Xi's 2nd statement was missed from the subtitles of the video: When Trudeau cut off the translator, what Xi said was, "if there's sincerity, we can talk in a professional format, that's great. Otherwise the outcome is hard to say". Meaning unless you guys act professionally and treat the Sino-Can relation with respect it deserves, there's no point to talk.

Every sentence coming out of Trudeau's mouth starts with "We believe in free and open dialogue", "We believe in free speech", "We believe in free this and free that". I don't think he can even frame a proper sentence without using "We believe in free....". You can ask him any question, he will always have the same answer.

There are very, very few non-native Chinese persons who can translate the "intent" or " inflex" of Mandarin or Cantonese. The inflex is just as complex as are colloquialisms in American English. Western media most often jump to any conclusion they expected, rather than wait for a good translation.

Basically, after having casual 10mins chit chat at G20, Tradeus distributed false information about China interfering in Canada politics to the Canadian media. Xi saw the news and chastised Tradeus for his unprofessional behavior (even hurtful remarks about China). Tradeus attempted to defend his acts by claiming that Canada is a free and democratic nation where everyone is allowed to express themselves. President Xi questioned the sincerity of Tradeus's action to even fit for further discussion on "working together" before they both walked away. If you were President Xi, how would you respond?

In fact at the start when Xi said: 'It's not appropriate', the tone of it is more like: 'well it's not appropriate mate' (in the Australian tone). Not even harsh.

trudeau is doing a great job of helping bring China to Canada by banning handguns and AR-15s... he's simply "ceating the conditions". Nothing harmful.
