Chinese President Xi Jinping's dream project, the Belt and Road Initiative has suffered yet another blow. The Philippines has decided to exit it. With that, it has become the second country to do so after Italy. Why are countries pulling out of BRI? Is this the beginning of the end of BRI?

The Philippines did not literally exit the Belt Road Project. Its just that China just did not even start anything on the project and just kept it hanging. It was only right for the Philippines to default the project and seek for other investors. India, Japan and ADB were interested in the project

@@HABIBIBIBIBIBI50 Philippines is far off from going to a downfall without the China Investments. Our true heroes are still the OFWs who remits billions of dollars to the Philippines coffers. As for the Nuclear Power Plant, i am all for this, but will it translate to lower cost of Electricity? And all the renewables are cheaper to install but is it reducing our electric bill? The way it is our ERC is so corrupted it needs a total revamp.

Among ASEAN nations, The Philippines don't have much infrastructure financed by Chinese death trap loans. Many years ago, Malaysia warned the Philippines on the Belt and Road initiatives of China. Instead, The Philippines stayed with Japan. Their infrastructures like the big subway project is financed by Japan at a very low-interest rates of .001%. One reason why Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand are silent OR DUMBFOUNDED in the issue of the South China Sea is that they are in the pocket of China. Every man for himself. The Philippines are not getting support with the Asean, therefore she has to secure her sovereign right by all means ..... herself. Vietnam will do the same.

China supposedly promised the Philippines 24B-26B dollars in investments and loans. The projects which were supposed to be funded by Chinese loans and investments were very critical to the Philippines. However, China delivered so little and the projects didn't took of beyond the drawing table. There's now talk that China merely hoodwinked the Philippines so that China would have an easier time solidifying its presence in the South China Sea as the Philippines tone down their response to China's expansionist moves in the region. It seems that China deliberately baited the Philippines and sabotaged the growth of the Philippine economy which was powering ahead in the region. Had China not promised to finance the projects which were very critical to Philippine economic development, GDP Growth and job generation, the Philippines could have already sourced funding elsewhwere and the Philippines would have had higher gdp growth and lower unemployment in the last couple or so years.

I personally don't think Vietnam has any reason to be inclined to China. China and the USSR's influence during the war in Vietnam made things even worse, When both US and Vietnam could have negotiated peace earlier, tensions rose and all ended up waving a long and costly war. and after the war, Vietnam was left with the US blockade while China couldn't even afford to help Vietnam to go back on their feet. fortunately the relations between Vietnam and the US have changed for good. Vietnam could become a very developed country if ever they carefully choose their allay this time. for the Philippines there's not closer ally than the US. the Filipino and the American share common values. The Philippines is historically the most Western country in Asia and drifting away from those strong ties with US would be pure nonsense. Let's look for the list of Phillipines massacres done mainly by American and Japan forces. Local scholars call these massacres genocide, but American academics use a light, euphemistics concept, they call them "democide". Althought they admit the killing I think they try to wash the blood in their hands considering the killings as innocent and unintentional acts, a terrible but necessary mistake. "In domestic democide, such as lynchings, the American government was probably indirectly responsible for around 2,000 killed since 1900. But in foreign wars, the American military may have killed hundreds of thousands of foreigners in cold blood, virtually all civilians, and the greater majority of these by bombing". You might be wondering why China lost interest in Philippine projects - it is because Philippines keeps cancelling them anyway. For the past 20 years, Philippines either cancel the loan or stop China projects. They are notorious for bringing their workers from China which obviously violates immigration and labor laws. They are also importing materials that is already abundant in the host country, thus not paying duties, customs and taxes and their contractors are found to not have sufficient qualification and competence to actually satisfy the requirements of these projects - so good luck with the safety and structural integrity of your infrastructure.

As a Filipino, I never had any issue with where my tax money went as long as it was spent wisely. I did raise my eyebrows when our traitorous ex-president pandered to China, but I wouldn't mind so much if we were getting a good deal. As it happened, we were being served shoddy quantity at a higher interest rate. All the glitz and glamor we got out out of the pivot to China were a bunch of new condominium buildings for online gambling hubs, communities that got gentrified out of reach, and Chinese restaurants that don't cater to the locals. Obviously , while all that "development" was happening our fishermen were being robbed of their livelihood, and their boats were getting rammed or left out on stormy seas, while the traitor in the Palace did nothing. Filipinos aren't just saying no to the BRI for political reasons. We seriously believe based on everything we see that the People's Republic will never be a friend.

BRI is like a one stop shop for Railways, highways, Telecommunication, 5G, Ports, Schools, Hospitals, Residential & Commercial Developments, Dams, Power stations and Stadiums. Best part of it, you can shop around and apply for finance for these infrastructure. 145 countries participated, many countries are wealthy enough and don‘t need to apply for finance, while some poor countries thought its a FREE hand out just like old school European donation. Thats where the problem comes in. However, luckily only few countries can not keep up with the payment, yet China is providing another 800 billions to boost the initiatives this year. I can understand why Italy was pulling out, because they are well connected to European Railways and Highways already. BRI just an option. Italy can built it themselves and pay for their infrastructure on their own. Remember, BRI is not a FREE donation, and China can not force any country to built a High Speed Rail if they the receiving country doesn‘t want to. So, whats the issue? Philipine can take it or leave it, China doesn‘t even care.
@merrick6484
@merrick6484 8 ай бұрын
One of the most profitable BRI project is the Trans Euroasia Railway. The number of cargo trains between China and Europe has broke the record again at 10 000 trips just before end of July 2023. Normal sea freight will take 31 days to reach either side, but it has cut the transport time to 16 days only. German car makers has use this railway heavily to export their cars to China, and Chinese products are quick to service its customers in Europe, even to Italy.😂 The countries from Central Asia and Eastern Europe alone side this railway route has benefited greatly as well. Kazakstan can export their energy and minerals to both China and Europe, where they used to be a landlock country. In the near future, even Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan can export their products to Central Asia, Russia and entire Europe, and vice versa. You never hear Kazakstan, Germany, Holland or Turkiye complain about BRI, do you? Or heard about Debt Traps by these countries do you? They are busy making billions Dollar transactions and benefit from it.
@merrick6484

Regarding Finance. China still hold 800 billion dollars in US treasury bond and selling off as fast as these contracts are matureed, average at 100 billion per months. Instead of investing their foreign reserve in US and boost US economic, and let US turn this fund into weaponery against China. China rather pull it out and invest in Developing Countries. If you ever worry China will run out of money to invest in BRI, thats basically impossible because they‘re still enjoy their export surplus, besides their 800 billion usd in reserves. China is not India. Once again, BRI is not a FREE donation, China is receiving their money back with interests from lenders who are doing well. China is the Banker. In fact, China used their money withdrew from US and invest heavily in Asian Development bank as well. China is actually the largest lender, while India is the largest borrower from Asian Development Bank. So, guess who is actually financing Modi to build India‘s first high speed rail? 😂

An embarrassment? Marcos Junior was the first head of state to visit China in 2023 hoping to improve his country's economy. However due up US pressure, he has to go against China at the expense of improving Philippines economy. His late father has left tons of money in the US which can be frozen if he doesn't work with US. His personal interests comes first, not the Filipinos. It's China that's doesn't want to build the infrastructure for Philippines after having been play out by Marcos Junior. Let's see how well Japan can build the high speed train for Philippines as they're having problems but building it for Vietnam Vietnam has to approach China for assistance. What was mentioned above was reported by Taiwan's political analysts. This show the reporting in your channel is biased and inaccurate.
