Palki, the supply chain crisis quickly brought the past to my mind. When I was a kid in the US, we made most of our products in our factories. There was no such thing as dependence on China or many others. We were quite prosperous then, but then came outsourcing customer service call centers to India, high-tech and greedy companies gasping for ridiculous profits. Today, all we manufacture here are weapons, and even those need chips, etc from other countries. Besides shortages, my main concern is war with China. What happens to supply chains then and in the future? How can the US be so flagrantly casual about such a prospect, when so much is at stake? When did greed itself become a product? I know I’m all over the map, but know you understand what I’m saying. Finally, thank you for your wonderfully informative, factual and comprehensive reporting. WION is my new favorite channel of reality.

It's because of a higher minimum wage in the US, which in turn increase product cost, hence, the companies are invariably forced to outsource whatever could be outsourced to cut costs and increase profit, what an average minimum wage American earns in a day, an average Indians earn it in a month

Great point. However, we did have an excellent manufacturing system in the United States. Outsourcing and rampant, cheap foreign labor from globalization destroyed it. So, it is time to REBUILD our manufacturing businesses AND pay decent wages. Otherwise it will continue to be a constant race to the bottom.

I bought one bag 2 years ago but i sold it unused. Life is really very good when you stop buying unnecessary things. Whenever you want to shop, just quit caffeine and go home and sleep. I stop buying soda due to their preservatives. I simply put sugar in hot water. I replace their chemicals with plain rice as flavor. Anyway, its all about the taste of sugar. One bag of sugar cost 2 dollars and can make like 50 sodas. Because i stopped buying clothes, i also decreased my meals to fit comfortably into old clothes.

Heh! You know what they are doing? They are shifting the blame to China. Yes, China is the culprit, but why did you - our politicians and our bureaucrats allow it to happen? How about businesses? Pick any billionaire, millionaire - they made their money by allowing China to sell them rock bottom cheap goods without a single twitch of their conscience - (actually the politicians and the bureaucracy colluded with the rich and powerful) to destroy the working class of the rest of the world. Why blame our own governments? Because they employ hundreds of experts to advise them on every subject, including China, spies and intelligence agencies to monitor what is happening in the world and in China - they knowingly allowed this to happen. Not only that, this channel and others like it are part of the same game. Now they are busy helping their "friends" in high places by making us believe China is exclusively to blame. How nice!

Sometimes you find out you have a serious problem when it hits you in the face and you cannot ignore it. This supply issue is a wakeup call showing the world that we are too dependent on China for much of our supplies and products. The solution is to diversify the supply chain so that we are not totally dependent on one country or supplier.

@@healthytruth1363 I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I really want to contest this. I'm an Australian Chinese, so I think I have a rather unbiased view. China recently cut itself off from Australian coal, look what happened? Energy shortage nationwide! What can we learn from this? Is it really about being independent of other countries, or about learning to stop fighting and realise we're all in this together? China relies heavily on Indian pharmaceuticals, if they stop buying them, not only will innocent Chinese people, my grandparents and cousins suffer, but losing a big customer will also lead to lowering demand, harming innocent Indians too. China just so happens to be able to make things for cheap, at a passable quality (even iPhones are made there), Australia just happens to have high quality coal for cheap, and India just happens to be good at medical technology. In my view, there should be more cooperation, not just between the governments, but between the people. China may be communist and Indian and Australia might be a democracy, but at the end of the day, we all dance, love music, enjoy food and care for each other, and we should promote friendship before hate.

Great reporting Mrs. Sharma. Lesson learned from this Supply chain crisis. Every country need to be self.-sufficient. Look on the bright side. Less Vehicles on the road, less pollution. Better quality of the air we all breathe.. Less Diwali and Christmas lights will result in less consumption of electricity. Less Toys means parents and children get to spend more time together. Families get to bond more. We get to remove the material things in our lives and replace them with people who matters most. Bring on all the Humankind Reuniouns. Let's not get too materialiistic and enjoy the bare necessities of life. As it is written what profits a man or woman if they gain the whole world and loses their Soul. Let's celebrate life for life is for living. 👑👰👸🤴🦁🎺🌱 🕊️🐑🐓😇🏝️🍯🔥

Even if it was a nightmare to us...we would have started making homemade ketchup as alternative. Temporary arrangement....,

India is the best option for developing alternative supply chain, we have tons of natural resources, a government which ready to support businesses, welcomes foreign investment with whole heart, cheap labor and a huge variety of skilled professionals and a stable democracy

Yeeah! An ending there with: a typical Pal's trademark; from this 21st Century media legend. You can't miss it! No way! Heey!! I am happy to know that she is me Pal. Yeah! You never get tired listening to her - whether voice or content, it don't make any difference; you are amused just the same.😂😂😂 Gravitas PLUS editorials plugs the week-to-week gap you know! Love you Pal, James _________________ James Gbondo 10/10/2021 ©️ P/JAFG:54 James and Palki (...)

@CatLady In my humble opinion you are the one that do not know. So let me enlighten you. As far as food expiration there is a "sell by" and "best by" They are two different things. I will put it simple. Nothing expires unless it show signs that is not good, and that definitely include medication. As a matter of fact medications, beside Insulin and something else which I do not remember right now, are good to use for decades. Expiration date on medication is only a money making opportunity, which by the way started in the army because they had massive stock that tney did not know what to do with it. I suggest you and everyone interested to read about the subject it is really interesting and eye opening. Enjoy your reading.
