I traveled many times in 23 years working abroad i never released my seat belt while on board except when going to rest room for unexpected scenario like this, some passengers are not following the crew advised keep on your belt fastened at all times. Lucky for those seat belt fastened and very good job done by the pilot managing a sudden drop of 6000 feet god bless all flights,

On many cases, whenever there is a technical disaster with Airlines, "Boeing" is on the forefront. I personally do suggest people to book flights ✈️ with Airbus!

Keep your seatbelts on during every flight just like you would in a car.

I was in an D C 8 back in 1968 flying from Chrisrchurch N Z to Australia when we where over the Tasmin sea the pilot announced to fasten seat belts because we were going to hit an air pocket and he said the plane was going to drop down it was very rough flying at the time when it happened there seemed to be a complete silence then after some time everything came right the pilot said we had dropped 10 000 feet but there was no injures maybe some else was on that flight that recalls the episode Never wish it on anybody I was only 17 and a half at the time I am now 73 plus scary stuff 😢

Indian reporters are good at English, but they're not great at their job. It went down in Myanmar airspace, not Thai airspace.

Firstly, it did NOT "drop" 6000ft. That was the controlled descent by the pilots AFTER the turbulence occurred. The real turbulence incident happened at 37,000ft with a variation of not more than a few 100ft within a few seconds before returning back to 37,000ft. The pilots after learning of the severity, decided to descend down 6000ft for clearer or smoother air or in preparation to divert to Bangkok. Secondly, it was NOT in thai Airspace. It was in Yangon's FIR when this happened, so it was in Myanmar airspace Thirdly, not exactly over the Andaman Sea but over the Irrawaddy basin in Myanmar. Such shoddy work and no research. You have a responsibility as a media outlet to deliver true, FACTUAL information to the audience, not just half-baked information you get from your sources, don't you double check and verify your sources before delivering the news?

A couple of years back i flew Singapore airlines from Heathrow to Singapore. The service was good, but my experience w/ this airline was quite scary. When the aircraft was over the Himalayas the turbulence was quite disturbing. And it was not for five minutes or even 15, it lasted for more than 20 minutes, at one point i can feel the sensation of falling, and the shaking. Was outright disturbing. Now I’m well travelled and used to flying to various parts of the world, but that was the only time that reminded me of my mortality. And i never went near Singapore airline’s ever again. Thank the heavens.

Turbulance, storm, heavy rain, lightning are unknown hazards during on air.the flying officers manage the emergency as far as possible. Rest is God 's grace.

On long flights, in clear weather, passengers are allowed to move around. Can you sit strapped for 15+ hrs? However, if cloudy, bumpy wx was felt, then the crew could've warned the passengers to 'return to seats and strap up.' I think that drop of 6000' or so possibly took a few seconds as the airplane went down in an 'air pocket.'

I've done many long haul flights were I was in my seat with a seatbelt on for over 15 hours. What do you do on a plane? Jogging?
