20 years on each count that makes it 80 years for four counts, not 20 years on all counts she's found guilty. Sadly enough, she wasn't found guilty of the counts of patients she fooled, but that of investors. Only the losses of the rich millionaires/billionaires were important in the case, not the patients.

she never had a product for patients to be tricked about. unless one of her investors was also a sick patient. and if they run all of her charges concurrent she will get 20. if ran consecutive she will get 80. and that is if she is given the maximum. i hope they do her like they did jussie smollett. he was found guilty on 6 counts of what was essentially fraud. each count for him held 3 years maximum. so he should have gotten 18 years. but he is at home with breath that smells like balls. and he ripped off normal working people. she ripped off elite money pits. your outrage is poorly aimed.

They took small blood samples which the machines were supposed to use, and diluted them so they could be used by machines in normal labs, then gave the results to their customers. The dilution made the results worthless and worse, confusing. It's likely that at least some people were hurt. They were completely unscrupulous as to whether people were hurt or not.

I remember when Theranos was first being covered in the news as an exciting new to-be huge "disruptor" of the medical blood testing industry and I heard Holmes interviewed multiple times and I had instant red flags listening to her claims, understanding her background and hearing her spew what sounded like learned CEO-ese on her part. It was obvious even back then when she was all the rage, that she wasn't answering ANY in depth, legitimate, basic questions. She kept running for cover with the "I can't answer that, that's proprietary" too many times and when it really shouldn't have been used or needed. And She was terribly, obviously, wildly superficial with her answers to the most basic questions. And then she'd resort to biz-speak at the level of a joke - it was almost a parody how many cliched, over used "business" and success aphorisms she had too ready on the tip of her tongue. The journalist who first looked into it and then ended up blowing the Theranos fraud story was only using the most basic common sense questions and investigation and research and inquiry techniques that ANY minimally competent and responsible investor and financial advisor could and should use when evaluating the legitimacy and value of a company.

Those that funded her projects too must be taken to task for investing into such a business venture without proper fiscal study and evidence of it being helpful and useful to others. Hoping for this idea to become a reality someday as technology progresses. Faking results for money - this case reminds me of the VW's defend emission tests that led them to trouble. We reflect, learn and, not resort to unethical means to keep investors happy. The engineering and scientific community should not be discouraged away from pursuing game changing ideas.

yes. the engendering and scientific community should be discouraged from all game changing endeavors. 1 if the game is running fine. and it has been. and 2 if the communities are being pressured and funded by the government. and they are. we do not need to worry about the emissions of a car in america when u have chemical plants in china and india that r releasing more pollution into the water and sky than 5 americas combined. that is unethical and pure greed. using simple minded people/civilians as their disposal mock army. so yeah, stop any radical changes that will hinder the current and natural path.

It didn't work because it's impossible to do multiple tests with one drop of blood. In order to do a blood test the test sample has to be used up. It never could have worked.
