Whenever I watch this episode, and Mr.Poolcheck is on screen, all I can think about is how he reminds me of old school Nicktoon characters. When he yells and you can see the veins in his neck and everything, it just reminds me of shows like Ren and Stimpy and stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if his character design was inspired by some of those old nicktoons.

Like the fact that Mermando was voiced by the creator behind "Homestarunner" (explains why Mermando sounded like a smooth, more suave version of Strong Bad).

While the pool would pose a serious threat to anything with gills, the saltwater vs freshwater thing is less of a big deal (for a short time). See, the water salinity doesn't affect how a fish breathes but it does affect how a fish stays hydrated. Water moves from high concentration to low concentration to try to even out like heat does and in saltwater that water will leave a fish much faster, dehydrating fish that aren't adapted for that level of salinity. The opposite is true with saltwater fish in freshwater, they tend to hydrate too much and take on too much water for their own good. Assuming our merman friend can escape the fresh water within a few hours, he's fine (but that does still leave us with the chlorine issue, oh well).

Unpopular opinion; Mabel is not a nice person.

Mabel's a selfish person, like it or not, it's okay if you like the character, i do enjoy her crazyness, but as a sister to Dipper she's the worst... of course Dipper's not perfect, but Mabel always gets what she wants playing the "pitty card" everytime. She got friends her age in GF, Dipper got Soos which is okay, but he still feel lonely since Soos don't enjoy everything Dipper likes (games and "nerd" stuff) as opposite for Mabel with Grenda and Candy
