I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better song about the sad topic of self-harm. That’s what’s happening here. Poor Richie is so numb from trying to dull the pain he feels from rejection, that he’s willfully harming himself just so he can “safely” feel something.

I saw it as sadness wasn't an acceptable emotion for him, but anger and agression were, so that's how his feelings get expressed. He can't talk about his feelings to someone, but he can try to pick a fight and punch someone, because those were acceptable emotions/actions in that time and place.

0:19 when Richie tries to fight Gil and Gil is trying to stop him. I just love how Gil doesn’t want to hurt him. You can see how much he really cares for his best friend.

idc about what y’all say, the music is my favorite 😭 and i’m a big fan of grease. i like that it in a way is more modern. still has the heart of grease but still making it it’s own thing. this was one of my favorite songs this episode :))

The moment when they where excusing Eveything and never admitting they where crying was both so sad and really hilarious. It made me cry and laugh at the same time. It was like “oh we are too manly to cry” type thing 😭 but it was so sweet 🥹 btw omg Shy Guy has my heart ❤

I want Shy Guy to find love and romance with someone wonderful. I was really rooting for Shy Guy and Cynthia at first, but that ship has been totally and completely sunk and I accept that it will not happen.

Another stand out number, so catchy with its classic rock meets punk rock vibe. Along with "New Cool", another great T-Birds song and angst anthem.

As an episode about the T-Bird’s, this one definitely feels like a very fitting tune. Also, the actor playing Ritchie definitely has the right voice.

This Song is the first time heavy metal get to be involved in grease. Power guitar riff just like Metallica master of puppets and fire of guitar of helter skelter and love it or hate it’s was AWESOME !!!!

yeah but it's not like the music from the movie was realistic. It was 70s music in the style of 50s music. And the broadway show was only slightly better. Plus it might be like what Baz Luhrmann does in his movies - mix the modern and the old to show us that in spite of how many things have changed a lot of things have still stayed the same so that we won't feel alienated.

When it is something a character is listening to, like the radio or the jukebox, they are using era appropriate music from 1954. The original musical numbers are thier own thing that do not sound era appropriate, nor have they from the first episode.

@@agenttheater5 The BROADWAY songs absolutely sounded 1950s not 1970s. Maybe half the original MOVIE songs sound 1970s. I totally and completely agree with this part of your comment: "mix the modern and the old to show us that in spite of how many things have changed a lot of things have still stayed the same so that we won't feel alienated." The modern music is a way to connect to modern teenagers and show them that some things haven't changed. Some emotions/feelings are common to teenagers in any decade.
