I absolutely love this. As someone with Bipolar 1 who has had a couple psychotic manic episodes, this hits very close to home 🤣🤣🤣. Without coke I definitely experienced the unreasonably elated mood, trashed apartment, positivity or ambivalence towards objectively unfortunate events (i.e. having to drop out of college, unable to work at my job), inappropriate emotional/behavioral responses to events (hysterically laughing about something negative happening or vice versa), enhanced sensory experiences (light feeling a lot more "briiIIIIIGHT"), a change in the sense of time (I would stay up all night writing and not realize it was the next day, was not able to manage my time to make it to appointments/work - referencing Andy's demonic "OR WAS IT?"), delusions about reality ("we're all in the matrix"), fixation on unrealistic goals and grandiose ideas ("moving to spain and running with the bulls" - I impulsively decided I was going to move to England and am still get emails from immigration 🤣), linking seemingly random thoughts together that are non-sensical to others (explore the ocean, now I'm up in this tree). However, I was not violent like his upset reaction to someone touching him and I didn't experience any visual hallucinations - although some people with Bipolar 1, Schizophrenia, or those who experience other forms of psychosis do. I am in a place now where I'm medicated, have a job, going to school, living on my own in a much tidier apartment but I wanted to point out the similarity between this depiction of coke addiction (with perhaps some drug-induced psychosis) and other severe mental illnesses where this happens to people naturally with no drugs in their systems. In my opinion, an important aspect of living with Bipolar 1 is having a sense of humor about it. How else can you live with knowing you did these socially unacceptable and totally embarrassing things? I believe there is a stigma around severe mental health issues because of a lack of understanding of mental illnesses like Bipolar 1, but maybe this video can give non-Bipolar 1 individuals a glimpse into the distorted reality of someone experiencing a psychotic manic episode. This is a video I'll watch when I'm really depressed to cheer me up, not only because Andy Samberg is absolutely hilarious but also it helps me make light of my manic experiences. You can laugh or you can cry, in my case it's sometimes both 😅🤣😂
