Always so good seeing you at the rendezvous! I really enjoyed our talks. I love the idea of birth knives. Grandpa provided me with a birth knife when I was old enough to understand. The knife is worth absolutely nothing, but the family history that knife has and the meaning that knife has is absolutely priceless to me.

Really enjoyed your video. I just visited Titusville a week ago and purchased only my third and fourth Great Eastern Cutlery knives. A real thrill to see the shop as it reminded me so much of a factory my father use to co-own in another old, classic industry.

@@KnifeThoughts Dad was part owner in the Colt Clamp Company in Batavia, New York. The original factory had a overhead pulley and belt system where each machine was run off a single electric motor. Each machine could be engaged / disengaged separately. Two rows of equipment were set up as such. Other equipment such as a tumbler to remove slag and burrs on the castings ran on separate motors. A real throwback to the good old days. OSHA eventually put an end to such setups. That's when separate motors were setup for each machine .. much like you see at GEC.

What a wonderful Birth Knife! Great story, and really pleased for you. That'll be one very lucky kid! Looked forward to your report and it didn't disappoint. It's further for GEC fans abroad to attend, so your work and generosity in sharing is really important - maybe one year I'll make it across the pond. I scored the DIW 88 (would love an Alligator too...) - only issue is a proud tip on the lambfoot, but for me it's not a gamechanger with this splendid pattern.

It was my first rendezvous this year! So awesome! Got to talk with Bill Howard. Met Patty! Met Rob (ApostleP), Joel (Bosssteelblades), Taylor (rvagearguy), Travis and more! Hopefully I'll meet you next year! I got number 42! Also picked up a #44 in stag s model in the store. And I got a #97 tidioute allegheny from "plumbob"! Doubled my GEC collection! Now I can't stop thinking about getting my hands on a #88 in desert ironwood! To be fair, I was warned about this possible addiction.

Thanks for an excellent report and information. ...so for the porch campers, are there bathroom accommodations available just in case I show up at a future rendezvous? lol

That’s crazy people camp out TWO days ahead now. Reminds me of the blade show footage showing people running in as soon as the doors open. Does GEC set up a booth at blade show? Thanks for the coverage, sounds like a chill time hanging out and talking knives.
