Yuuup. The thing with her tongue was snakelike, hence the line by Ms Havisham about taking a boy (Finn) and "throwing it in with a snake" (Stella) to watch him get eaten. Havisham compared Finn to a mouse before he learns to assert himself, but Finn is generally symbolized by the fish (as in, "fin", a fish out of water) and he spends a lot time in the movie dressed in blues and grays and awkwardly out-of-his-element, so to speak. I want to say that earlier Finn and Stella are standing in front of a picture he drew of a bird on a starry background flying above a fish in the water. Finn stands in front of the fish, Stella stands closer to the bird....a sneaky little hint about the struggle between two very different creatures trying to reach each other. But they get little moments of contact and all their kisses happen through a screen of water--fountains or rain. I don't think the birds in the background are just set pieces--I think they are a little references to the bird in Finn's drawing. He sees her as a bird. Her higher self is a bird. But at this point in the movie, she's still grounded as a reptile, all in green and flicking out her tongue. It's absolutely creepy. There is still something heartless and predatory in her at this point. She knows the game she's playing is torture to Finn (and it probably is to her too to some degree), but hasn't yet found personal freedom or evolved into her better self......
