Richard Scanlan Isn't it Tony Williams? He's phenomenal! I've never thought of the Platters as a blues group although this particular song does have a sort of blues feel to it. But songs like Only You, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, and Unchained Melody are beautiful ballads but not blues songs, right? Whatever they did, it was incredibly beautiful and very professional. They were a cut above.

The Platters are and were one of music's all time greatest groups bar none. They and Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Bo Diddley dominated the early beginnings of Rock-Roll. Tony Williams had one of the greatest voices that the music world has ever heard. The Platters dominated the Billboards top 100 with great songs like: The Great Pretender, Twilight Time, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, My Prayer, The Magic Touch, I Love You 1000 Times. They had a lot of crossover white fans in their heyday. RIP to all of the former members of the groups including Sonny Turner who passed away around January 22, 2022.
