Outstanding. I've been studying on this breed and they excel at doing only what is necessary and with accurate discernment. Good judgment trumps blind obedience. There are many breeds that could run this course in record time. The GP will never set any speed records, but has the endurance to repeat this course long after the eager beavers drop from exhaustion. I have raised Afghans. They aren't much for this sort of thing either, dazzling speed and agility, but a very catlike disposition. "You expect me to do what?"

Our big girl loved agility. She was straight out of the pasture, and we took her through various training activities as an activity to keep her mentally and physically engaged while she didn't have a flock. 75% of agility it was training us - she enjoyed working with us and the communication skills we developed as we trained. So I am not surprised you were able to do this. What gets me is how *fast* he is, especially in the Dec '21 run you have posted. Fastest LGD run ever? We never got our girl past an easy trot. Surveillance stop on every elevated obstacle, gently pushing the teeter totter and patiently waiting for it to fall, constantly aware of and occasionally distracted by surroundings... Yeah, that is all familiar =D

I've done training with a pyr and actually got an AKC CD certificate. I started in AKC Utility but my pup got Lyme disease and had to quit. Something that surprises me, back when I was doing training, the jumps for large dogs, such as the Pyrenees, were limited to 12 inches. What's he jumping there, 24 inches? For those saying large dogs shouldn't do this, my dog lived to 13 3/4 years and never had a hip issue from jumps or training.

@MountainSpaniel2 жыл бұрын
If your pyr is a livestock guardian or family companion, there is no real benefit to registering. Registration is needed for showing in conformation, or participating in performance competition like obedience, agility, scent work, drafting, etc. Basically, if you want to enter into AKC events, the dog will need to be registered.
