This is my favorite stretch of road heading down to my job. Just enjoying that V Twin 6 valve VT1100 engine, I love hearing it engine brake.

I just got about halfway through this video and realized it's the exact same route I took yesterday following my friend who was riding my Honda Sabre VT1100C2 to Hyser Cycle. Sounds great! Weird coincidence lol

Great bikes that will run forever with basic maintenance. I found trying to jet mine with open pipes to be a exercise in frustration. I eventually tracked down a set of used stock pipes for $180 on ebay. I hate loud pipes if I want to get people's attention I hit the horn 140Db of Denali sound bomb air horn gets their attention faster than pipes that just give me a headache after an hour down the highway. Especially riding up into the mountains. Solid rock to one side just blasts the sound back in your ear, and uphill the motor is working harder so it's even louder. Stock pipes all the way open pipes are only good for drag bikes anyway. It's like cutting 2 feet off the bottom of a ladder and taping it to the top trying to make a taller ladder. Put one on a dyno and it becomes obvious hence why guys put lollipops in their open pipes to try to get some back pressure back. You gain about 3hp at wide open throttle at the top of the powerband, and lose power everywhere else.

I ride a '96 vt1100 with 56,000 on it now and by engine braking, I'm still on the original set of brake pads front and rear. Engine braking works very well on these bikes and you only need to use the brakes when coming to a complete stop. The sound is...well let me just say, it's the same cadence of an old John Deere tractor, so loud exhaust only makes it sound like you're bailing hay on steroids!

Just purchased a 2006 VT1100C for $3700 with only 1255 miles on it. Original tires date code 0206. Pull-back bars. Looking forward to spring. Getting new tires. All stock and hope it sounds similar to yours. Haven't got it registered yet. My fifth bike, but has been a long time since my last one. My favorite so far was my 1977 Yamaha Maxim 650 4 cyl. inline, 4 carburetors. Maybe this one will be my new favorite, or at least hold a spot "up on the mantle" with the Maxim. Safe riding to you, Sam.

+David OneTon Congratulations on the purchase. Wish I got as good of a deal on my shadow. Getting a good sound out of these 6 valves is pretty easy, in my opinion they sound better than harleys.

BooYeah! I love my VTC1100. Has just about 70 thousand on it now, and still going strong. Comfortable, big tank for the remote long rides And a real stump puller of an engine. And somehow it gets great gas milage for a big bike. Take care of it - they don't make 'em any more. 8^)

@@nightkast0 I was surprised. Min has a decent sized tank ~ 3 Gallon. The weird thing about the VTC1100 is if you put a pipe like the Jardins and without a baffle, the gas milage jumps to 50 MPG. Sounds better too.

Sounds almost stock...my '97 1100 spirit had slash cuts but they were way loud. Replaced with stock mufflers which reduced HP but made the ride more enjoyable. My bike seems to backfire now and then when you back off the throttle quickly; I notice yours does not.

what kind of handlebars are those? what are they called?
@MrSamBraxton
@MrSamBraxton 8 жыл бұрын
+Giuseppe Padellaro These handlebars were already installed when I bought the bike. Compared to the stock bar on a standard spirit these are just slightly more aggressive with its "ape" style. Also slightly pulled back to the rider. I know that doesn't answer your question but gives you an idea on what to look for.

Idk why all these shadows sound so much different than my 86 vt1100c mine sounds like a harley at idle
@jhphoto100
@jhphoto100 Жыл бұрын
Because the older 1100s were single wrist pin cranks so they loped like a harley. The newer (2000s) have a double wrist pin crank so they lost some of the big twin lope.
@lawrencesportello1080
@lawrencesportello1080 Жыл бұрын
The older.. pre 1990 VT 1100'S had a higher compression ratio also which will contribute to a deeper exhaust note and more of lope due to slightly different cam timing I believe. Don't let it idle below 1000rpm +/- 100rpm though. Upper end can starve for oil according to Honda.
