I found amusing that the guy in 4:53 was recommending great amazing techno places like Berghain or KitKat... I wouldn’t expect that kind of “underground” advice on the street in this context. This explains how opened and progressive are the Berlin people about those places...

I appreciate that these hosts have the courage to approach people on the street and speak German, but the content tends to be a bit shallow when the moderator is less comfortable with the language. The question you start with is good, but there were so many missed opportunities for interesting follow-up questions. This is not meant to be a critique of the two women hosting, I think they deserve alot of credit for having the confidence to do this, but I do wish we could get more episodes with native or fluent moderators that are comfortable making conversation in German. These episodes are good too, but it seems like EG is using student moderators more frequently and there are fewer natural conversations. Regardless, I love Easy German and I can't express how important your videos have been in my language learning journey. Keep up the good work!
@SpongeMindTV
@SpongeMindTV 5 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with what "Momsen theNet" said. I admire people who can approach native speakers in the language they are still learning. And as a learner I even get inspired by them. But for them to be in videos meant for learners, I think they need to be at a level where they can carry a conversation comfortably (even if they make mistakes here and there). At least they should be able to understand the initial response and ask a follow up question when it's totally due... instead of simply saying "what else?" (most likely because they didn't understand the answer). It not only results in a missed opportunity but also kills the conversation flow. I absolutely LOVE Easy German and I just don't want you guys to take a wrong direction :) You guys are doing something wonderful. Keep it up!

Just to clarify, Mate tea is different than Matcha tea. The guy at 7:30 min forth was referring to yerba-Mate tea, der schmeckt wirklich wie arsch, but its extract is the signature component of the drink he recommended, Club Mate. It is a carbonated beverage, produced and bottled in Germany for over a hundred years, popular enough it surely tastes better than typical brewed Mate. "Matcha" was just a mis-slip, accidental or due to a language gap. Matcha, of course, is fine green tea powder. Both tea pronouns are borrowed directly into german.

Nobody talked about visiting Bonn? I was there for two weeks in 2014 and that city is just great, not big but also not small, museums are very interesting like German History museum and Beethoven birth house, there is this huge park near river with japanese garden in the center, also there was this chinese restaurant "Ding-Dong" where food was very good and i gained few kilograms there, also Koln is close so you can visit both cities in one trip :)

Einfach 1300 KM! Bitte, bedient mal euch: www.elberadweg.de/

Usually, I write in German, but I want to write this comment in English, so my fellow Americans can understand. There is this big stereotype that Germans want to only practise their English, and that anyone speaking in an American accent will only receive English. To some extent, this is true; I have met Germans and Austrians who would only speak English with me, until I INSISTED that they would need to speak German with me. However, some of the most patient people that I have ever met have been Germans! We can see that, despite Marissa's strong American accent, that NOBODY replied to her in English. And this is in the capital of Germany, in a tourist area, where lots of young people know at least some English. And all of them were patient with her. I think this tells you exactly two things: not all Germans are confident with their English skills, and, they are more than happy to help you out as you struggle through German! Keep it up!

Here's a pro tip: Don't visit Neuschwanstein! It's a fake castle and not very old and the typical tourist trap. The guided tours there are very short (because there's not much historical things anyways), boring and quite expensive.

Agreed! It’s nice to go to the bridge to take pictures but the tour is really disappointing (for the reasons you said) compared to other places. Linderhof (not a castle I know) has a really great tour along with Hohenzollern and the castle in Nürnberg. I didn’t have time to take a tour at Hohenschwangau so I can’t say about that one. Neuschwanstein really is a tourist trap, so overcrowded and you can’t see much of it in the tour
