The tiny differences on this lap led to a difference of 0.14 seconds. We compared 14 aspects and only 3 of them differed. Let's explain them in more detail!
In T1, we braked later on the great lap, which allowed us to win time on braking and also carry more speed into the corner. The difference could be spotted already on the backstraight when checking the sewer catch on the inside of the quick left hander as a marker.
In T3 we hit the inside kerb. Although, it doesn't look as bad in real time, when we slow the lap down we can see how it throws the kart of the line. Pause the video after the corner to see the kart matching the line in the middle of the track on the great lap. And on the good lap, the kart will have already crossed the line and dropped out, causing it to cover more distance, compromise its line and prove how hitting the kerb was not the right idea.
In the middle of the track we have a long right hander that turn into a chicane in T6. Short after shifting to 2nd gear in the middle of the corner, we will have to lift the throttle. This corner only requires lifting, not braking to plant the kart. When you watch it frame by frame, you can see how much earlier we start lifting on the good lap. But not only earlier, the whole process takes longer because the lift is hesitant. Although it still slows the kart, it takes much more time and is much less effective.
