Great Big Story

7 жыл бұрын

Before cowboys roamed the American West, there were Hungary’s Csikós. And on the Puszta-the country’s great plain-these traditional horsemen carry on their legacy. For centuries, whip-cracking horsemen in Hungary have been caring for their horses and cattle while practicing death-defying riding. The riders live in relative isolation in ranches that dot the plains. Although only a few Csikós are left in the region, Adam Bordás and his father János are keeping this proud tradition alive.
This Great Big Story was made in partnership with the Hungarian Tourism Agency (www.gotohungary.com).

American cowboys are an extremely recent phenomenon as history goes - the second half of the 19th century. Horsemanship in other parts of the world, on the other hand, goes back several millennia

@sectorgovernor
@sectorgovernor 4 жыл бұрын
I saw some versions in comments...some say it sounds turkic, iranic(!), finnish+slavic, turkish+german, and once I saw mongolian+turkic+ukrainian (lol). I'm hungarian, but I saw a video about a parody of Hungarian language (made by slovaks probably), where the man spoke a fake Hungarian, what was not understable for me, and it really sounded like a Finnish and Slavic mix.

Nope, Dothrakis are more likely Ancient Hungarians or Huns (they are not the same nation), but they (Huns/A.Hungarians) have many similar fighting technics and weapons with Mongolians, because they are coming from middle Asia between 350-900. Dothrakis facials and clothes are closer to Huns and A.Hungarians than Mongolians.

Why would they need whips if they have a strong positive relationship with their horse?

Those whips are ment to just give out a loud and "snappy" sound (that is usually scary to animals) to move the cattles around. And if you want to use it against somebody... it will hurt a lot. It can open up the skin very easily.

Their ancestors were but modern hungarians today are almost entirely European now. Eastern Hungarians who never migrated to Europe still live in Yugra(Yungria) called the Mansi and Khanty and they look 100% Asian.

@@sectorgovernor Khanty and Mansi homeland in their language is called Yungri(Yungria) and Yugri/Yugra(Ugri) in Russian. Hungarian were called Ugres in other nations. The tribal names in Hungarian past such as Kurt-Gurmat,Nyek,Tarjan and Meyger is still found in Mansi clan names as Yurmati,Nekmen,Tarkhan, and Mansi... Khanty is pronounced Hun-ty. Your own historians say Magna-Hungaria is located in Yugra. lmao

We use whip to make a loud sound, we don't actually hit them. It's like a bark of a shepard dog it makes the horse move where we want and behave. We whip it close to them sometimes aswell for louder sound but never hit them.
