​@@Ebaggens2both of them were playing pentatonics but the dudes was way more refined and smooth with better phrasing while the girl played basic ones they teach you at the beginning of pentatonic stuffs, the little stunt was what masked her improv and directed the audience away from what she was playing. Even it was a dude in her place my point stands.

They were both good, but different styles. THe guy was definitely more riff driven. The girl's solo was far more melodic - which is as difficult to pull off. I'd gladly play with either any time.

@@kinami7020 She didn't have nearly the number of notes he did. He did a bunch of appregio riffs - up and down the pentatonic shapes. It was nice and all in the key and pleasant. But hers had a melody that she created that was complementary of the song melody.

Playing behind your back is nothing compared to what Jimi could do. He literally was able to play a solo with his teeth, while having the strings put on in reverse order

Exactly. I've played professionally for over 20 years and I agree, and I'm sure anyone else at or above that level (which probably includes you) would also agree. Most of those negative comments probably come from people who play a little bit, know some terminology, etc., but still have a lot to learn. And those who don't play at all probably love the guy because he simply sounds great. (And that's the ONLY thing that matters, isn't it?) So it's kind of funny that the people who best understand that kind of excellence on guitar are the ones who've play the most and the LEAST! :) By the way, the gal is pretty damn good, too. Not 100% sure she actually is producing exactly what you hear in this video behind her head like that, because the touch sounds pretty heavy on some of those lines and I don't think that would be so easy from that position. If that really is her all the way through, then she is a hell of a player!

Yeah, the guy that played the solo is ACTUALLY playing, the "song" portion is just through the radio speakers and the other guy is lip syncing.

@@Bleeglesplotch the first solo was also mixed. It’s subtle, but there are differences in what he’s playing in the video vs what we’re hearing. The most obvious example is the very last note of his solo. What he played live should not sound like that, he slid down the neck way too quickly for that double stop to sustain that long

The tone he has in his fingers is something that isn’t learned… those little inflections and his phrasing/timing is pretty spot on, especially for just fitting the song.
