@@cluman1 fair point! I do think it’s extraordinary what we’ve witnessed in both the men’s and women’s game over the past 40+ years; Borg, Navratilova, Graf, Sampras, Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and the Williams sisters- all each winning at least one particular Slam on at least 5 occasions.

Perhaps the greatest season in tennis history, or at least in Novak's career, in terms of the elo rating. 6-0 against in-form Nadal (all 6 finals in big titles too, which is insane) and 4-1 against in-form Federer. 41 match winning streak in the beginning of the season. Record-breaking 5 ATP 1000 masters titles in a single season (he would break his own record by winning 6 in 2015). Ended the season disappointingly by not winning another title after this US open 2011 win, but still, amazing level of tennis, perhaps Novak's peak level in his career. In 2015 his game became more nuanced but overall the defense, defense to offense, and hard-hitting were on another level in 2011.

@@funes1944 Everybody thought Djokovic was bound to win Roland Garros that year (2011) as well, that's how crazy his form was. Mostly because he won 4 out of 4 matches against Rafa by then (Indian Wells final, Miami final, Madrid final and Rome final), let alone the fact that two of them were the first clay matches he ever won against Rafa. And 4 of those matches were all masters 1000 titles' final matches. I saw that 2011 RG semi between Fed and Djokovic, and my jaws dropped.

man i miss seeing this quality of tennis. these years were the best ones to watch while all of the big 3 were playing while also having del potro, tsonga, ferrer, murray and wawrinka who could from time to time upset and defeat some of the big 3 and add more flair to every tournament. I'll always miss those years

Roger has retired and in about a years time Novak and Nadal will too. Will or may not see 3 giants of the beautiful of tennis like them again who play super human tennis and who have won so much . The likes of Sinner, Alvarez and Rune are the present and future of tennis but I don't think they will go on to win about 80 tournaments each including 20 plus grand slams. But you never know and maybe in a few years time a player who is new on the scene will go on to surpass Novak's feats. .

Remember that one... more amazing was Nadal's tenacity to stay in the point... but, Djokovic's precision getting the length, on or near the lines, and corners, just - wow. There's a reason why these two have 22 and 24 slams respectively

Nadie subestimó a Djokovic.

Respuesta a Pedro Morales .

The commentator knew to keep quiet and let the tennis speak for itself. And oh boy, did it sing And only when the amazing rally finished did he speak and simply to utter, rather understated I might add, what a point A lot of the time in sports commentary, less is definitely more

With all due respect to Novak and Rafa, Roger Federer changed the way the game was played, and did so with grace and style on and off the court. He shall remain the true GOAT in my view. Interesting to note, young Alcaraz's idol is Federer. Like in hockey, Gretzky surpassed most of Gordie Howe's records, yet Gretzky will tell you Howe was the better player. Howe is the GOAT.
