@AleMasiXIII from 4: 20 to 4: 36 is Friedman 4: 56 to 5 : 41 is Mustaine. In this song Mustaine has more solo work then Friedman. But i cant imagine this song being as interesting as it is without the small but genius little fluidity Friedman adds in 20 seconds.

@cmlguerra thats because the songs are singles, they wrote them with radio play in mind and pulled it off so they fit perfectly with the albums pacing and concept. the vocals sure are a weak point of the album for many, but dont ruin it and in my opinion sound really good, also how could you completely ignore how masterfully mixed the whole album is? you can clearly tell every instrument apart without losing the cohesion of the melodies. every single riff and motif is very complex and technical, and clearly you havent put enough time to listen to this masterpiece carefully and probably skimmed most of the songs to see if they sound okay, but everybody has their own opinion and if you think so then what can i do

That's a weird take, for the reason that Metallicas melodies, arrangements and harmonies are way better then Megadeaths, especially looking at their 2,3,4 albums... if Megadeth is for Musicians then why is Metallica the most covered band with classical orchestras?

@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo Metallicas early arrangements satisfaction comes from mostly Cliff who was a fantastic inspiration to james and kind of kirk since he also had a decent bit of musical knowledge. The word "megadeth" is used to describe an event killing one million people. It's a term used to describe the affect of a nuclear bomb. Dave read it on the bus ride from New York back to LA after being fired from Metallica. He wrote a song, originally called Megadeth, but eventually took to the name for the band and renamed the song 'Set the World Afire.' Two songs you will eventually need to react to are, 'In My Darkest Hour' and 'Good Mourning/Friday Friday'. Two classic Megadeth songs off two different albums. The first four albums had three different lead guitarists and three different drummers. Each of their styles are different and is reflected in the early Megadeth sound. 'In My Darkest Hour' is a heavy metal melodic whirlwind. 'Good Mourning...' begins slow and builds to a frenzy.

Fun fact: this song it's made up of two distinct parts The first one is inspired by a big fight between loyalists and separatists in the crowd during a gig in Ireland, in the latest '80s, started because a dumb political comment. Infatct, when Mustaine sings "fools like me, who cross the sea, and come to foreign lands, ask the sheep, for their beliefs..." he's talking about himself. The second part is inspired by The Punisher, the Marvel's comics book character (Sorry for my bad english, i'm italian )

I probably had listened this song above 200 times. It always surprises me some new detail never noticed before. IMHO one of the five best constructed metal pieces in history. Has a lot of harmonic and rhytmic variations all of them well linked and extremely well played. Dave's voice was on point and communicated really deep emotions. The lyrics are fierce and the floor built by Menza and Ellefson is just out of this planet. On top of all that you got a true guitar god like Marty Friedman. It can't be other than a masterpiece. Any examples of what you’re talking about being “sloppy” and “lots of noise” in modern metal? Personally don’t think there’s any shortage of that to be found in any era. Plenty of old thrash was sloppy and noisy as a stylistic choice just as much as anything else, and many of the more extreme sub-genres like grindcore came to being around the same time that bands like Megadeth did. If anything, there’s more of any and every kind and quality of metal out there today, same as any other kind of music or media. You just have to find what appeals to you and keep in mind that at a certain point it’s all subjective.

Dave was playing the riff you reference 6:00, I think he called it the spider crawl riff. Friedman does the very melodic solo's, the flamenco style one, also Friedman at 10:21, Dave is mostly blunt force, does the last solo. You should watch the vid, it shows who plays what.

This is by far my favourite Megadeth song by a mile I love it and it was great to watch you discover it and really like it. I can tell you there is no better way to feel alive than to be right in the middle of the mosh pit at 135lbs soaking wet when Megadeth play this 🤘🤘

Megadave's best song. Here's a suggestion Annihilator - Crystal Ann/Alison Hell. Losta classical/Thrash in that one. Think he'll like that one.

Marty Friedman and Dave Mustaine are both great players! If you want more of Dave’s work some of his best work are the solos Wake Up Dead, Devils Island (second solo), My Last Words, and Five Magics (last solo). Marty Friedman has been in a bunch of bands and has many amazing solos, but his best Megadeth solos are probably Tornado of Souls, Lucretia, Hangar 18 (this song has 11 solos, a mix of Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman), and The Killing Road. If you do check out his solo career stuff, in my opinion his best song is Dragon Mistress! :)

I'd love it if you guys did a reaction to "OPETH - Ghost of Perdition (LIVE AT RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATRE)" I'm curious to see what Judson (?) thinks of the song and the band. Plus then we'll get his little rendition of it next video or something. haha Also side note about Megadeth. The band isn't nicknamed "MegaDave" for no reason. lol

I saw them back in september. This song is played live almost exact! Few things different but I think because it's their closer and dave introduces each member. Interesting note. Guitar player has only with this band for short amount of time. I think his 3rd show was when I got to see them. They were awesome!

I love the concept! Loved the video, watched every minute. I have two gripes. The first one, you played the 2004 remaster for him, which is universally derided by die hard Megadeth fans as an abomination lol. Especially late in the video when he mentioned how much he loves that older style metal production. On the 2004 master, Dave went in, scooped the mids out, cranked up the volume on everything (killing the dynamics), blasted the vocals in the mix, and even had to re-record some vocal tracks where the originals had been lost. The 1990 master is just so much more balanced, with a lot more room to breathe. Regardless, he was still able to get the picture musically as far as what was going on, which is ultimately what you’re gong for. My second gripe is how you explained to him who Marty Friedman is. “One of those 80s shredder guitarists” just comes across super reductive when you’re talking about someone as universally lauded as one of the greatest lead guitarists in metal history. But that’s a pretty minor gripe lol. If he gets in to metal big time, he will know who Friedman is in no time. I’m being semi facetious in the second gripe lol. But going forward, if you do more Rust In Peace, please do the original master! lol I’ll be checking out more of these for sure.

Dave does the intro lead live and plays the fast, main solo. The solos between the verses before that fast solo are all Marty. For radio style hits, Megadeth had Countdown To Extinction and Cryptic Writings

That is Dave Mustaine playing that killer riff at the end of the intro. He is the best "lead guitarist - lead singer" in metal. No other frontman even steps near the field where Dave plays.

Was looking up the lyrics to this song a few days ago and now KZfaq is giving me all these reaction-videos. Looked at a lot of them just out of curiosity and I don't think I have found a single one where the person listening to them had a negative reaction. I guess Megadeth is just one of those bands that we can all agree is great, no matter what genre you normally subscribe to. Next time you should react to the video as well while you listen to the song. Their songs are great on their own, but I feel like it's taken up a notch when you can actually see Dave and the guys playing as well, particularly in a live-video.
