Fort aan de Buursteeg (bij Veenendaal) is een aarden vestingwerk van de Grebbelinie. Het werd in 1786 aangelegd op de plaats waar de Buursteeg en de Slaperdijk bij elkaar komen en is het grootste bewaard gebleven fort van de Grebbelinie. Op het fortterrein staat ook het Grebbelinie Bezoekerscentrum. Het is een klein centrum waar de essentie van de Grebbelinie en van het fort wordt verklaard, aan de hand van kaarten, foto's en film. In de geschiedenis heeft het fort verschillende functies gehad. Na de 2e wereldoorlog was het lange tijd zelfs een kampeerterrein. Maar nu is het weer hersteld in de oorspronkelijke staat. Een wandeling over het terrein van het fort is zeer de moeite waard. Zeker op zo’n mooie lentedag (26 april 2024) als wij er waren.
Fort aan de Buursteeg (Bij Veenendaal) is an earthen fortification of the Grebbe Line. It was constructed in 1786 at the place where the Buursteeg and the Slaperdijk meet and is the largest preserved fort of the Grebbe Line. The Grebbelinie Visitor Center is also located on the fort grounds. It is a small center where the essence of the Grebbe Line and the fort is explained, using maps, photos and film. The fort has had various functions throughout history. After the Second World War it was even a camping site for a long time. But now it has been restored to its original state. A walk around the grounds of the fort is very worthwhile. Especially on such a beautiful spring day (April 26, 2024) when we were there.
