On April 27th 1941, the german troops entered Athens. The radio station of Athens warned it's audience that Athens is falling and this station will be german and it will broadcast axis propaganda and lies, so the citizens will stop listening to it. 1264 days later, on October 12th 1944, the greeks and some british units managed to liberate Athens and knock out the german troops. Athens was now free and it's Radio station delivered this specific free broadcast, saying that Athens and it's citizens are now free.
The broadcast was taken from this video (go to 3:01):

These sort of last/first broadcast messages make me feel patriotic for nations I don't live in, nor have any connection to. These messages are inspiring.

Imagine if Poland was liberated by the Western Allies rather than Red Army in 1945, we would probably hear the same guy who broadcasted Poland's surrender until its liberation.

It is laconic, but two "free", as in "Free Athens" and "now free", convey a lot of emotions without the need of saying it out loud.

I watched the last message right before this and it feels a little morbid, sad, but still hopeful. This one is just so satisfying.

This and the last free broadcast made in 1941 are not the original ones but are recreations made in the 1960s . The guy they used is the same though
