Greek custard pie

🥣 RECIPE
Ingredients
For the syrup
1 kg of sugar
500 ml of water
1 cinnamon stick
3-4 cloves
Lemon juice and peel
For the Cream
2 liters of milk
500 g sugar
6 eggs
50 g corn flour
200 g fine semolina
100 g butter
4 vanillas
500 grams of crust sheet
100 grams of fresh butter for buttering the crust sheet
Method
We start our recipe by boiling all the ingredients for the syrup for 7-8 minutes and let the syrup cool. Keep 1 glass of milk and heat the rest together with the sugar and eggs.
Then, dissolve the corn flour in the cold milk and when it gets hot, throw it in the pot together with the semolina. Continue, stirring over medium heat until creamy and when it sets, lower it and flavor with butter and vanilla.
Butter a 40 × 35cm baking pan. and lay 4 sheets per 2 facing each other. Then, butter and put another 4 sheets per 2 opposite, as shown in the video. Butter again, put 2 more sheets in the center and butter once more. Spread the cream on top and cover it with the excess sheets from the side ..
Finally, butter the edges well and spread the remaining sheets on top, also buttered per 2.
Bake the custard pie in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius for about an hour.
While the milk pudding is hot, we syrup it with the cold syrup.
Tip: To see if it is properly cooked, try to slightly shake the pan and see if the crust sheets come off the pan side surface. Moreover, pierce the cake with a knife and check if it comes out dry.
