@@charadradam9985 That's basically how I am when idiots claim modern Italians aren't descendants of the ancient Italians that created Rome. They act like just because 50-100 thousand lombards came in and ruled most of italy that automatically means the native Italian population (which vastly outnumbered the lombards) were just killed off.

@@romainvicta8817 u know man... these new theories you would not see them from people that have a great and historical nation like italians greeks egyptians persians etc.. not even from people that have respect to themselves as many in europe and also slavs for example. these theories you will see them from some new mixed countries or some countries that became countries in the near past and have origins from nomads that never had political organization . moreover thy did not even have language alphabet psilosophy astronomy etc.. these people try to unerrate the other great civilzation and to cut roots from the past. yes some thousands lombards dissapered the natives of all the peninsula some thousands goths also some thousands slavs disappeared all the greeks in the middle ages and after 10 battles with romans all the native greek world had dissapeared. they think that italians and greeks and other were some races in tropical islands with 1000 people and suddenly disappeared from the map. when italians and roman empire later had hundrends of big cities in italian peninsula and many colonies and greek world had hundrends of big cities in minor asia and greek peninsula some goths and lombards killed them all!!! i think in this way that when alexander went to persian empire and won 3 battles, their army killed millions of persians and now there is not any persian left and iran now is a lie. in that way also when roman empire had the half of central and west europe and all the mediterrenean see countries i think the romans killed all the millions of defeated people and noone left.the emperor had terretories with no people i guess. i dont know when the taxes came from though haha

I love how Turks always say "Wahh the Griks had help from muh great powers they never do anything on their own" ignoring of course the vast power difference between a bunch of peasants and farmers rising up against a great power at the time already present... The Greeks didn't even have much help against the Turks, In fact it was the Turks who brought in help after they got their asses kicked repeatedly on land and on sea, the Turks ran to Egypt and had to get Muhammad Ali to send his armies to the Morea because they couldn't defeat the rebellion on their own, a mighty empire of "warrior people" couldn't defeat an uprising of poor farmers and peasants literally right next door to their capital, entire armies of theirs perished, their navy was taking loss after loss. Yet we have Turks today saying Greeks had "help" when in reality they were the ones who got decimated and had to get egypt to aid them, all Greeks really did was even the playing field, the Turks brought their friends, Greeks brought theirs. Turks always twisting and rewriting history, to hide the fact Greeks defeated them

+Lord Alehandro How do you know that?
@blitcut9712
@blitcut9712 5 жыл бұрын
Yea, 200 years before the Greek rebellion, not the same people. Remember, this was a time were religion started being less and less important for many while instead maintaining the status quo and not let any one nation get to big was seen as the priority. Think about it, at the time, if Poland existed it would be still be surrounded by other large states, most notably Austria and Russia. These two nations both bordered the Ottomans and the Ottomans would've, as previously stated, an interest in keeping these two powers in check. So if anyone went after Poland the Ottomans might intervene. Why would the Poles weaken a potential ally?
@blitcut9712
@blitcut9712 5 жыл бұрын
So why didn't they partition it irl then? Don't see how the non-existence of Poland would prevent that. Coward or not the British managed to become the worlds dominant great power so they must've done something right. And how do you know that they wouldn't aid each other? Do you have any kind of evidence supporting this notion? Sure, the Ottomans might be falling but they were still a power to contend with. Hell, even the faulty argument of what Poland did 200 years ago somehow reflecting their current view is wrong as the Polish-Ottoman relationship isn't as straightforward as you think. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish%E2%80%93Ottoman_alliance
@blitcut9712
@blitcut9712 5 жыл бұрын
And how do you know any such partitions would've gone anywhere, or even succeeded? Contrary to the commonwealth at the time of its partition the Ottomans still had a functioning government so they couldn't exactly just walk in. And the argument I've been making all along is that the Poles wouldn't aid the Greeks due to convenience. Also, I've asked several times now. Do you have any actual evidence supporting this claim that Poland would come to Greece's aid?
@blitcut9712
@blitcut9712 5 жыл бұрын
No it didn't have a functioning. The Commonwealths Sejm was paralysed due to the liberum veto and had as a result brought the Commonwealth to the brink of collapse. As a matter of fact it's theorised that the removal of the liberum veto and the consequences it would've brought was one of the reasons the partitions happened before it could be implemented. Is Poland still a "defender of Christian civilisation", and so in what way? If the answer is no, how can you be sure they would still be one at the time? Also, what exactly makes you think that Poland was a "defender of Christian civilisation" in the past? As previously mentioned they had no problem making deals with the Ottomans and allowing them to take over several christian nations. Even the times when Poland aided other countries against the Ottomans this aid came in the form of a mutual defence pact against the Ottomans. So Poland's aid could've had less to do with "protecting your fellow Christians" and more to do with defence against a potential Ottoman invasion.

In the end it turned out well, we regained territory while Turkey only regained the Asia Minor, which was pretty much a small part of the Ottoman Empire.

Revolutonaries had great lead against Ottomans in start but two foolish civil wars during the revolution between Rumeli (central Greece) and Morea, the support to Ottomans from Egypt (with numerous army, modern weapons, former Napoleon's officers), the wrong urge of a philhellene officer to the main greek force to fight in open field against ottoman deli cavalry during the siege of Acropolis, ignoring the objections of revolutionary leaders which lead to loss of Acropolis, brought the risk to the revolution. The High Porte didn't recognise the loss of Morea easily and continue to send more forces from Balkans and Egypt. The Great Powers decited to recognise the greek autonomy and they send a fleet out of Navarino to watch out. Muslim fleet foolishly opened fire and in the naval battle it wiped out. Finaly decided that the Greece will be recognised as independent after so much civillian bloodshed and after the Russo-Turkish war in 1828, among the terms of treaty of Adrianopol Ottoman Empire accepted to recognise Greece. Greek Revolution is the first national-liberating revolution and the greatest challenge it faced was the counter-revolutionary environment of Holly Alliance which eventually overcame by the wave of philhellenism in public opinion in European countries against the elites. You can say that it altered the status quo and started the era of revolutions of 1848 that finally lead to modern nation-states of Europe.

I am pretty sure that Turkey wont ever have claims over europe but ottomanist government talks differently. But it is temporary. governments come and go. Modern Turkey was never meant to be imperialist or Islamic country. Its one of the first countries to give women rights Thats why Mustafa Kemal has great reputation in even west. I just hope Turkey will stay westernized. and Greek still believe İstanbul is Constantinople meanwhile there are MORE Turks living in İstanbul than WHOLE Greeks in Greece. It is basically impossible for them to retake İstanbul without great power intervention. even if great powers intervene they would never give those lands to Greeks back (English took İstanbul in first ww1, then while losing they ttried to make it international free lands but they couldnt after their allies' loses) So both countries have citizens with oxymoron nationalist ideals which is basically impossible to execute. History is history. we should be realistic. Greece is such small and even poor country (comparing to Eu) with low manpower. Turkey is richer and has lot more manpower, bigger army but it doesnt change the fact that Turkey is only regional power that can only dictate iraq, syria, armenia etc. weaker than lot other western countries. byzantium and ottomans were great powers but its long gone.

+withche07 the turkish and the greek people, believe me have all the good will to stop the fighting ( with the exception of a few extremist from each side which can be easily ignored by everyone) The goverments however, and more specifically the turkish goverment is another subject. I believe with ur current goverment, war is only matter of time... Actually way closer than we think, shame we will kill each other again it seems...and this time it will trully be for nothing. Cus i get it, Turks had their strong empire bla bla bla, greeks wanted their intepedance (rightfully) and so on. But why now? I find 0 reasons for a war to break and yet i feel we are soooo close to it... wierd

At 1821 was the start of greek war of independence. We count 400 years of ottoman occupation (in Thessaloniki 500) from 1453... So we know that the work is not done yet. We count in centuries.

Good for Greece because is little far of the central Balkan. In the central Balkan there are more controlled by many soldiers but in Greece doesn't have to many soldiers and that is how the liberation of Creece. But the bulgarians where are in the central Balkan its more harder to liberat.
