Yeah but all the wealthy provinces with the African and Asian trade routes were in the Eastern Empire making it easier to maintain.

@@dellboid Don't be silly.The politics were the problem in the western part.Actually the eastern half was like "don't mess with them let them kill themselves,we don't want that cancer spread in Constantinople too".The eastern half that as you say was more rich tried with that wealth to reclaim the west and almost got bankrupt,resulting in the loss of half the eastern empire and giving birth to Islam that unified the turkic tribes into warlike states that brought the end of the empire itself.So wealthy yes,but not enough.The western part though had to deal with a bunch of barbarians that with correct politics like in the past could have been even stronger than the east...

The comments were making fun of him, saying he is not Greek, he is Arab/Pakistani just because he is a bit more brown, so I felt bad for him and deleted the video.
