Malcolm is so fucking delusional and absolutely nuts......and he hides it behind such a handsome face and calm, soothing voice. Best. Villain. Ever!!!!!!! That was an awesome stunt with Oliver flipping his body up and forcing the pipe to break like that! That was one of the best opening scenes of this whole show!

Stephen amell has grown into this role so well. So unfortunate that the writers couldn't do grow the series in a positive way with him

My two favourite things about this scene: 1. For once (or at least it's rare) there's a very good reason for the villain to spare the hero. Malcolm views Oliver as something like a nephew, and genuinely cares about him. And despite still viewing it as necessary, he seems to regret killing Robert, so the least he can do to make amends is not kill Oliver, if given the choice. 2. Season 5 really re-contextualises this scene. We now know that Oliver was very conflicted. He thought he was fighting for his city and his father's legacy, but in large part he was trying to cope with years of trauma and did this by enacting a killing spree that he genuinely enjoyed. Laurel even called him out in Season 3, saying that he was using adrenaline to hide from the pain of real life.

I am in awe of the upper body strength Stephen displays here. Pulling himself up upside down like that takes a lot of power. He embodies Oliver Queen so well that whoever does take up the role again in a movie setting has a hell of a job ahead of them. He is to green arrow now what Christopher reeve is to superman. He is the standard to which everybody after him Hass to meet and surpass if they can’t. After eight years, he has become synonymous with the role and the character. I truly admire his dedication both physically and mentally to this part and I will miss seeing arrow after its final bow in January. The series was not just the redemption of a city, but the redemption of Oliver queen himself after so many years of darkness.
