This game perfectly described the 2011 Packers. Their offense was insanely good with Aaron Rodgers going God mode on everyone, which led to the opposing quarterbacks to throw to try and keep up. As for the defense, they were feast or famine. They allowed the most passing yards in NFL history, but they also led the league with 31 interceptions.

2 pick 6 and they only won by 7 points. If the defense was halfway decent they would have won their 2nd straight SB.
@jaymasterjam6412 Жыл бұрын
@@thetrain3302if I remember right this was the year clay Matthews wasn’t nearly as productive as his previous seasons and our lack of pass rush was the main problem on our defense this year. Also Nick Collins career ending injury hurt as well leaving with us with not much speed on the back end. Morgan Burnett and Charlie Peprah I believe were our starting safeties and they are both more run support safeties. We still had Tramon Williams, Charles Woodson, Sam Shields on the outside and they made a lot of plays for us this year but we would consistently get burned in the middle of the field or we got burned over the top.

SJW Destroyer you are absolutely correct. This defense hasn’t found the replacement for nick collins. They have always had a great safety. Leroy Butler to nick collins. After that the defense has always struggled. Let’s hope Darnel Savage is that type of player going into 2019.
@packisbetter904 жыл бұрын
A lot of reasons. Nick Collins injury, Woodson aging, Letting go of good consistently healthy pass rushers (Jenkins), letting go of up and coming corners (Hayward, Hyde), Shields injury, Capers beginning to get figured out, and just Thompsons crappier defensive draft picks in his later years

Packers were on fire that year, even the only season loss (K.C.) was questionable because McCarthy didn't challenge the non-call turnover which would have been undisputed. To this day I still say the playoff loss to the Giants was due to the tragic death of the Off Cord. son days before the game. Most of the Packers players never experienced that trauma, they all seemed like they were in a daze during the game. NFL requires full concentration, especially a playoff game.

This game showcased how bad the Packers defense really was - poor tackling, missed coverage assignments, excessive yards allowed, etc. The 2011 season was the downfall of the Packers defense that has yet to recover from it, even to this day. Starting this season and every season since including the current one, Packers defense has been middle of the league or worse every year in both yards allowed and scoring, including twice dead last in passing yards allowed. That's not how to win football games come playoff time.
