Uh oh! Seems like using “Father to a Son” on KZfaq results in the video being blocked worldwide. I guess the other fourteen tracks on here are fine to use? Whatever. Sorry that the reaction to the track has to be muted, but it’s the only way this video can stay up. As far as further thoughts on the album go, I haven’t had too much time to listen to the album in full since recording/editing this video, but here are some notes… - This album is really good, but doesn’t crack my top five for Green Day. People placing it in their top three is crazy to me. Dookie, American Idiot, Nimrod, 21st, and even Revolution Radio are better in my opinion. That being said, Saviors is damn good. - My overall opinions on the songs haven’t changed. I like them all and they are all growing on me…however, it seems I have an unpopular opinion. 1981 isn’t that great. I’m sorry. Mid at best. - Overall, I love the themes and lyrics present in the album. As a Gen Z going into the adulting world, I feel like Billie Joe really captured the turmoil and uncertainty going into the future. If punk rock was still really well known, I could see this album being a legitimate anthem for people my age. Nice job Green Day. You guys have done it again. Room tour video coming next month!

Big Green Day fan, loved the vid 🔥 this album came out the day after my Birthday and I was really hopping it was good, because of what happened with FOAM, and I love it, kinda gives 21 century vibes, and melodic vibes they used to have, loved the return to some non political fast pace punk songs like they used to make, so this album would make any era Green Day fan happy!!! 🎉❤

@@IanMeyersBHP they recently did money money part 2 which I think is fantastic! If your looking for more of a rock sound. Foxboro Hottubs and the Longshot are good. If you looking for more punk I'd go with pinhead gunpowder!

to answer your question at 16:51 i've got a list of some albums that came out in 1981: Escape: Journey October: U2 Sorry Ma, forgot to take out the trash: The Replacements (I bet this influenced the song title "Look Ma! No Brains!") Paradise Theater: Styx Hard Promises: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (edit: I just saw another comment listing more lol)

I'm an old school GD fan, I grew up on Kerplunk. I'd rank this album 6th. I like it more than everything they've done since American Idiot. 1981 is my favorite song by far. I actually like the middle of the album the most. Dilemma through Living in the 20's. The only song I can't stand is One Eyed Bastard and my one knock overall is that many of the songs repeat phrases too much. I'm not a fan of overly repetitive lyrics.

Happy to see an old school fan hanging out in the comments! Although I am much younger, 1039 might be my favorite record from them; love Kerplunk too. Glad that you enjoyed the album but ultimately I prefer 21CB and RevRad. But this album had some real highlights (1981 is my least favorite though, sorry lol)
