Hold up. Colon told Tariq he was "outside" watching these Puerto Rican crews in the park breakdancing in 1974. In another video on his channel he says he is 56 yrs. I'll be 58 in August. In 1974 I was 8 years old and Colon was 6 years old. How the fock was he hanging out at all these spots in the first grade? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. There is no way in hell he witnessed what he's talking about at 6 years old in 74. I can barely remember what I was doing at 6. So, he is basing his research off of what he has read or heard and not as a PRIMARY witness and or source of information. HE WAS NOT THERE PERIOD. Someone needs to really challenge him on this cuz he talks like he was there. Not at 6 years old...no docking way. He is a pathological liar

Block parties and Jams were still what we would start calling Hip-hop in the 80's. Remember, we didn't hav a name for it. Corporate America called it Hip-hop so they could market it and capitalize off of it. Clubs were for a paying public, street jams and block parties were free for the entire community, including the kids who weren't old enough to go to clubs. We watched this thing evolve because everything they did in the clubs the DJs did in the parks and on the blocks for us. W remember this thing before there were even MCs rapping. That didn't come till later at the end of the 70s. So like it or not, Colon is telling the truth and all the emotional hysterical yelling and screaming over him doesn't change the facts.

American music forms: Spirituals, Blues, Ragtime, Jazz, Country, Gospel, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock n Roll, Doo-Wop, Soul, Funk, Disco, Punk, House and of course Rap and Hip Hop---all enjoy well documented African American roots coupled with undeniable Black American influence---whether directly or indirectly.. Latinos -- Puerto Ricans particularly -- please explain how you co-created or co-invented yet another installment in the legacy of Black Musical expression known as Rap and Hip Hop, yet didn't co-create or co-invent any of the elements of the 14 or so African American music forms that predated it? Or why you were nowhere to be found and absent during the creative and inventive foundation outlining the forms of African American musical expression, brilliance and greatness throughout, or even prior to the previous 14 or so African American music forms that are mentioned above yet then, all of a sudden--out of nowhere, you folks come along and claim you co-created and co-invented Rap and Hip Hop 50/50 half n half (which is the evidence-free and utter nonsense being peddled by Dr. Derrick Colon, Fat Joe and numerous un-informed latinos---claims you all never mentioned or verbalized during its inception in the early 1970's)---latinos claims of "50/50--half & half co-creation and co-invention just don't add up---it makes no sense and are increasingly becoming scrutinized and debunked--widespread. They'll tell you 1000 stories about hooking up equipment to street lights and say "This was Hip Hop" but the moment someone they don't like says "I was there", they raise the goal post. While I do think Dr. Colon is wrong in denying it was originally all African American, I do believe being from that community while coming of age doesn't make him an outsider. He was a young kid but wasn't an outsider. If that reasoning was applied to everybody, most of us living today, FBA or NOT, would be considered OUTSIDERS when it comes to Hip Hop.
@out2lunch4Ай бұрын
@@JUSLOFIThe reason they say Colon is an outsider is because he oversteps the line and puts his people in front of ( Black Americans ). If 5 or 6 NYC Black Americans are burning and going off creating a new dance while listening to James Brown Say It Loud. That’s Black American music! No Black American is an outsider to our own sht.
