Green Hell HARDMODE | Console Survival Tips | Surviving the First Day

I separate it into two types of info: a numbered list of things you need to do on the first day and also info I call "opportunity situations" where you want to pick these up as you go, as you see them. I show you how to keep your macronutrients up, which tools/weapons to create FIRST, how to build a quick but effective shelter, and quite a bit more! Now, more about the game and what this series is designed to teach you:
Green Hell is a crafting and sandbox survival simulator in a jungle environment. This series is designed to help new console players learn how to not only survive but to thrive in the game, and we show them how on the HIGHEST game difficulty that includes the most aggressive predators, fastest nutrient depletion, and permadeath mode... Only thing I could add for first day players is to try for head shots when hunting for food. Hitting any animal in the head will be an instant kill, and you wont have to watch your valuable spear running off into the jungle, stuck in the side of your dinner. It is highly unlikely that the animal will die as you are chasing it, and you could possibly get lost just crashing through the bush trying to find it again. Great series UKG, packed with so many valuable tips.

Learned this the hard way, just missed the head of an armadillo it ran off, I chased it directly into an ant hill :(

Right when you said "I wasn't in the most common spawning area" that's where I made my first ever base. Didn't know how to save lost it all. Starving, wet, cold. Got bit by a snake survived it. Then some insects finished me off. I was like okay timea reload. Boy only if I knew what I do now 🤣. BTW that was yesterday 😂

I'm VERY late on this video, but before you harvest the turtle you can actually level up all your attacking skills by attacking the turtle because it's un-killable while It's in it's shell

Great Video! Haven't seen the Day 2 part yet, but I'd like to add in my two cents. I saw you've cleaned yourself in many different areas around the map but didn't take the time to pick up mud or talk much about the great wonders of mud in this game (assuming you've gotten the mud aspect in Day 2 build), Love the content and I absolutely enjoy this game

I recently bought this for the ps4 and the controls are so strange. You have to be very precise when lining up the curser to place small items such as bone needles in the drying rack or pulling off leaches. It takes forever and can be really anoying. I really like this game though despite all that

Oh man yea the needle placement when putting the dry rack together is a pain on PC too! Leeches are a little better, and you’ll get used to it. Glad you are enjoying the game, I myself love it!

For real, can I just grab a banana for crying out loud. Plus, I don't think you can turn stuff in your in your inventory without sorting, and stuff is so close together that it's easy to eat or destroy something by accident.

@@Stranzua They need to add keyboard and mouse support of the console version. The cursor is so unbearably slow it's completely impossible to use it when panicking or doing something quickly

Ah, I spent about 30 in game days before watching this video where about 95% of it was spent in pure insanity. After watching parts of this video I learned that paying attention to the watch actually matters a great deal. I ended up in a situation in my first save where I had to start the game over... which is when I found this video. In about 15 hours (irl) into my 2nd save and I haven't gone insane once, lol. Fantastic video. For me personally, coconut shells, to essentially collect rain water in and tobacco leave bandages are the most important first things to get 🙂

I’ve done 21 mile through hikes, middle of winter camping, and survival camping. This game is harder than those real life experiences. And I love it lol, but I’m never going to the jungle, even if there’s a fire.

I slept late and missed this. Sorry. HINT: You can actually SEE a dried palm leaf on the tree BEFORE you actually cut it. HINT: Hydrated, soups in turtle shell, you can drink twice, doubling the nutrients.

If you want instant dry leaf look for the same tree or palm tree that gamer cut but with the brown leaf.

@UKG Dry leaves can be found from Palm trees and Banana trees.. Check for Trees that has brown dried leaves.. You've just been walking around those trees in the video.

I had to pause because my baby cried, but I’m on Day 20 and I really hope I don’t die just yet XD;; My plan is to beeline back to my shelter and fire arrows from my second storey, here we go!

@@UnkemptGamer omg I did it! There were three of them, dude o.o I ran inside, chugged the four soups on my stove for energy, popped onto my second story, and shot them. No head shots, but they bled out and left some sweet weapons :) Still can’t believe that worked out ok XD;; Time to save!

I just got this game on the Switch, went randomly exploring on easy difficulty and got a random worm. Apparently I need fish bones to take it out according to the notebook, lol.

I'm sure you know by now 2 years later lmao, but bones can be harvested for bone needles, and at the fishing shack thing there's always a fish trap which gives a free fish which can be eaten and get a fish bone from it

That place where you killed the turtle is by far the best place to build a base. If you maneuver the frames right, you can build a base over the water, away from predators. You can get pretty crazy with it, making a bunch of stories and making it huge. Ask me how I know.

I honestly prefer my spot at 48'W 26'S, right on a river bee nest spawns everywhere, next to drug facility, close to the climbing spot, has a big brazil nut tree that spawns nuts like everyday and animals everywhere. I'm on like day 87 now and never worry about food or water because of it. (The drier helps since I can store food for 5 days so I don't have to hunt everyday and can keep building)

I don't know in what version you played. But now you can make a shelter which allows you to save and sleep. Though a roof is still smart for you're fire if there is nothing else you can use.

Oh yea, that small shelter has been in the game since early release. I like the frame with palm leaf bed so that I can make a fire and cook if I need to. Thanks for watching!

I wish the leaves you put on the ground wouldn't despawn. Looks great for soft floors in living rooms. Also a bummer that there's no bench to restore energy without sleeping.

Only log beds and hammocks keep u safe from worms. But having a bed decreases the chance, having a fire next to it decreases the chance even more

I can travel the entire map and never have to worry about water, carbs, protein, or fats. Basically the first thing I tend to craft is armor and that's to help with the accidental cougar or jaguar attack. It also helps that the game allows you to live by just keeping the water bar at max, but that's not fun to do.

Yes, in the early game it certainly is that way! Once you start building up structures and tools life will get much easier. Dryers, weapons racks, and storage will really help you, along with gaining knowledge on how to prepare food and where to find it. Once you get there, you can do stuff and forage etc. along the way! Outside of that you can also lower the difficulty settings.

Story mode does have an ending (there are two different endings). Once you get to the ending, that session does end and you can't keep playing.

Thanks for watching! If you need immediate tinder you can *harvest* the molineria plant (the "bandage" plant), tobacco, or the lily if you can't find a bird's nest. Another option is to chop down the common plants and wait for them to either dry out or put them on a dryer, which is quicker. Or you could also chop down a palm tree. So, I’m playing this game with my boyfriend and is so fucking frustratiiiiiingg. We played like an hour and manage to survive until the 🐯 show up, we tried our best and fight like hell, after staving him several times he runaway. We got several injured and died. It's a super useful trick not just for the early game while you are looking for coconuts, but also later in the game because you don't always need to have water on you.

Since the console version came out cooked meat also gives 10 sanity, which the soup does not.

@@UnkemptGamer maybe, maybe not. I'll look into it more, but it does allow a way to cook for what someone needs, instead of an automatic way of cooking, just making stews all the time. If it's a bug I'm going to recommend they leave it.

Yes in my experience the quality will look better on phones compared to a PC, I can notice a difference when I watch on my phone vs my PC too.

I tried to boil my water on a fire and it didn't work. The two cooking spots disappeared and if you put it on top it puts the fire out.. help??

The just put a hotfix out today that fixes some bugs (like what we saw in one of my recent videos with all the bananas and monstera) and they mentioned they are working hard on the Spirits of Amazonia update. Hopefully that means something is coming soon.

Oh man, there are some areas in the game world where there are 3+ mice and it drives me NUTS! There's one area in SOA1 where I feel like half my time is spent getting rid of them.

If you have a good reaction time you can just dodge out of the way of the snakes. And spiders don't even chase you on console(lmao). Big cats also don't run at you if you don't sprint so they'll just walk slowly

While I play PC, I can give you some insights into what I've seen with console players. The console version is a little behind the PC version because it was release like a year and a half after the PC version. So SOA isn't on there and also a few big updates like trees regrowing. Outside of that, the gameplay is slightly different but from what I have seen with other streamers playing console it looks pretty good. That and the game being pretty tough at first are probably the two biggest pieces of concerns console players have. That being said, updates to console are scheduled to come in 2022 based on Creepy Jar's roadmap. I love this game!!!

If you haven't bought the game yet you definitely should. The PC version obviously has more content like the builders update but that's all coming to console soon anyway. The game is so much better now than it was back then and I've been playing it non stop since I bought it. I'm already on day 87 and I just bought the game a little over a week ago lol

That's weird because while the "jungle oranges" as I like to call them will fit in the smaller planter, the bananas should be just fine in the large planter. Very interesting! Can you DM us a pic in Discord?
