Green noise, sometimes described as "the background noise of the world," can help you relax and get some sleep, and may alleviate the effects of tinnitus. Enjoy, and rest well.

Fun fact: green noise is not an "official" color of noise, so there may be multiple interpretations of how it should sound. I crafted mine using this definition attributed to J. Russell Lemon: "As I remember, it was flat from 500 Hz to about 2 kHz and then rolled off at 9 db/octave. Below 500 Hz it rolled off at 6 db ?? per octave." ⚠️ 𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗗 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗬 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗗𝗗𝗟𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗢? If so, I'm sorry that happened. I know it's awful to be startled by a mid-roll ad. I have them disabled on all of my content, but KZfaq has a confirmed bug that causes them to play for some viewers anyway. It's not just my channel - this has been a problem across the entire platform since at least mid-2022. KZfaq's engineers know about the bug and what causes it to happen, but unfortunately, they have not provided any information about when (or if) they will fix it. The bug tends to manifest as a 30-second mid-roll ad played around the 6-hour mark, and it disproportionately affects iPhone and iPad users. I have been investigating this for a very long time, and I go into more detail about my findings here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pMqViLmYv7PMYY0.html If you are affected by the bug but still want to access my content, I recommend that you view this video's description and try one of the alternatives I have provided, such as Spotify or Rumble. If you want to stay on KZfaq, you'll find that I have live stream versions of my most popular content, and they tend to be safe from the bug - but not always. The only guaranteed way to never get ads on KZfaq is to subscribe to KZfaq Premium, which I understand is not an option for everyone. As it turns out, the reason I have the luxury of disabling ads everywhere KZfaq will let me is because my channel makes the vast majority of its revenue from KZfaq Premium. I have reviewed my analytics data and it appears that KZfaq does not compensate me for the mid-roll ads in question, which I suspect is because their systems cannot reconcile the fact that a mid-roll ad played even though I have them disabled. You are welcome to reply to this comment with information about what happened to you, but at this point, we have a pretty solid understanding of what's going on and are just hoping it will be fixed. Historically, it helped when viewers would list what type of device they were on, which app or browser was being used, the approximate timestamp of when the ad played, and what company/product/service the ad was for. I appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter, and I'm sorry there isn't more I can do.

@@damonmitchell8457 😊 Aw, well... I'm a KZfaq viewer just as much as I am a creator... I watch and listen to all sorts of content here, so I experience all the same things everyone else does. That's why I specifically disabled interrupting video ads, because _I get it_. The fact that they happen regardless of my settings really irks me, and I want to know what's going on and what can be done. Of course I'm going to investigate and offer options! 😤 Anyway... thanks again for your kind words. 🤘

@@TrueCrimeSuperFan420 Old TV/radio noise is not white noise because it is not equal at all frequencies. Most people (including myself!) were told it is white noise, so that's what we know it as. Here's real white noise: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbd5mbxitcmugX0.html It is called "white noise" specifically because it is named after white light, which is all colors/wavelengths of light simultaneously; since white noise is all frequencies simultaneously, someone thought it would make sense to call it that.

For the first time in years, my mind is finally quiet. I worry and have racing thoughts nearly every moment of everyday, even during the times I’m supposed to be focused. It usually sounds like I’m thinking 60 things at once and they’re all not great. Green sound came to me during a commercial for a meditation app. It became the only commercial I was excited to see simply because of the 15 seconds of mental silence. I love green noise 💚

sadly doesn't work for me, my ADHD just "isolates" the noise, turns it into ambient and so after a couple minutes im back to thinking. this happens often with a lot of things, if im not receiving irregular/interesting stimulus, i lose my focus. and start focusing on my thoughts even tho i dont want to, i start thinking, try to stop, and then i realize im thinking back again. it's like such a smooth transition that often i dont notice i am, which is the reason i cant meditate. when trying to meditate i have "thought layers" in one of them im meditating, and in another im back to thinking, thinking in two different things at the same time. meditation is quite impossible for me, i CANNOT focus enough, as previously said i slowly get back to thinking or my focus jumps.

I swear I can hear birds chirping in the background
@DJGrossman
@DJGrossman 2 жыл бұрын
UPDATE: No, there are no bird recordings in this audio. Hearing birds in green noise is an example of auditory pareidolia, a phenomenon where the brain interprets random sounds as something more familiar, like voices or music. It's similar to seeing shapes in clouds or faces in inanimate objects - but don't worry, it's very common. This green noise was created by generating 12 hours of white noise and then applying a special filter curve to it. You can see the parameters I used in the video description and try it yourself. I do have nature recordings on my channel if you're interested in hearing them (and I'd love for you to have a listen and hopefully subscribe), but this isn't one of them. I generate colors of noise from scratch using audio editing software and definitions that you can easily find online, just as I did. Thank you for enjoying my work! 😄 ORIGINAL REPLY: Isn't it funny what our brains can do? Maybe that's why some people call green noise "the background noise of the world." 🤷‍♂

I had the worst panic attack I'd gone through to date over the weekend, I ended up saying horrible things to someone I loved to the point they called it off. Listening to this video has helped suppress any thoughts I had about them or myself and overall decrease my sense of anxiety.

I'm so sorry... I've had two panic attacks myself so far and they were unspeakably awful experiences. It took me weeks to recover. Xanax helped in the immediate, and weekly therapy has helped for the long-term. Do you think you can mend things with that person, or is it irreparable? Either way, I am very happy that this green noise has helped you level out after all of that, and I hope you continue to recover at a good pace. 🙂

Can u pls explain why colours are brought in to describe a sound. What makes this sound green? What makes a sound pink. I am uninformed lol. Good video tho it’s quality stuff I am just confused
@DJGrossman
@DJGrossman Жыл бұрын
@@JohnsFrusciante My understanding is that colors were used to describe certain noises for convenience, and not because there is any scientific link between, say, red light and red noise. Light has a color spectrum; longer wavelengths (lower frequencies) result in colors in the red and orange range, while shorter wavelengths (higher frequencies) result in colors in the violet and blue range, with other colors of the rainbow in between. We are very familiar with this for light, and it made sense to re-use it for noise. Before I explain what makes this noise "green," I have to point out that green noise was kinda designed (I'd call it a "boutique noise") and is not an official color of noise like the others. In green's case, someone came up with a spec (high power in the midrange frequencies of 500-2000 Hz and rolling off on either side) and I used that to design this noise in my audio editing/production software. Pink noise, on the other hand, is linear in logarithmic scale, and generally has more power in the lower frequencies. It tends to be more abrasive than green noise but helps a lot of people. For example, I use pink noise when I have a tinnitus flare-up. I know some of that explanation was a bit technical, but I hope it helped. 😄

I have a hypothesis for why this is so relaxing, and uplifting. It sounds like a waterfall, and when you think about it - that's the most basic, natural thing to release dopamine in us. If we go back, and I mean way back, to our ancestors, before we were even humans, and we think about what we needed to survive in the wild - water is the top dog. When ever we would hear this sound, we knew fresh clean water was close, over time that became engrained in us, that this sound was a good thing. Because our DNA carries the memories of our ancestors, and actually when I think about it, maybe even when we were lizards - the very very first thing we learned to love in our existence was the sound of a waterfall, the sound that indicated we were close to a fresh water source, the essence of life. So basically, this sound signifies the essence of life, engrained into us for millions of years, this touches the deepest most primitive parts of our minds and tells us, "everything is going to be okay."
@DJGrossman

Well said! I think you're onto something there. I, like many others, love the sound of rushing water. I also love rain - man, I love rain! If there's water, you can drink, grow stuff, catch fish, and so on. It makes sense. 🙂

This sounds like both either a waterfall in a rainforest with birds or a really windy spring day. @@julianthefoolian Honestly it's for the best - those things ate through my stomach lining and I almost bled out into myself, and I barely took any! 😵‍💫 There are alternatives like celecoxib. But anyway. As we both know, meds aren't always the answer, and in this case, I'm glad this does the trick!
