Green Pastures Farm has some nice 2-year-old South Poll bulls available. We will be taking orders for June 1st pickup date of our 100% forage raised South Poll bulls. All bulls will be semen, Trich and Johnes tested this spring. Bulls are docile, hot wire broke and will be ready to breed cows.

Hello Greg, hope you are doing well! I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you sharing all your knowledge and how much of an inspiration you are. I am a young man from Costa Rica starting a new cattle operation with my family and as you’ve mentioned in other videos, it can be overwhelming. But the way you explain things in such detail just makes everything make sense. Getting to were you are in terms of ranch management for now is only a dream to me, but I very well know what I am aiming for now. Thanks again for all you do and all the valuable information you share. God bless you and thanks for inspiring us young farmers!

When the bottom has been culled hard over many years the average is elevated. Lesson: cull hard for what works in your management.

Thanks for the video! Our cattle and sheep don’t get pampered either. I did give them a protein tub when it was super cold. They were getting some very mature first crop hay. I’m sure they would have been fine but just rather be safe than sorry. Also, I did give them some bedding because they were on top of a hill with the wind and snow when it was super cold. If I had the fence done, they would have been in a nice draw out of the wind.

Beauties! Greg, I run hairsheep on 30 acres. Pasture isn't great yet but getting better with regen ag. Is it a terrible idea to run a flerd, add a couple cows without handling equipment? I have run sheep only for 2 plus years with ONLY sheep netting.

Do you have a problem with lice ? If so how do you treat it

@deborahkelly2576 a few of our cows had lice last year. We didn’t treat them and they cleared up when the weather got warmer. So far they are looking better this year.

No lice this year , yet. When we do have bare spots, nature takes care of lice in 3-4 days when April temps hit 70 degrees. Don’t kill your soil microbes by pouring chemicals on your cows to rid lice when sunlight does it very well.

Consider having a really poor specimen of a steer among those bulls. When buyers ask about what to look for, use that steer to show, by contrast, what the negative traits are. It will help your buyers to identify what is different about all these elite bulls that "look alike".

This year we do have the buyers paying for their bulls health check of semen, Trich and Johnes. But I decided to keep the bull price the same so that folks could more easily afford them. It’s tough out here on the farm for folks and we try our best to hold down our prices.

The stock market is down this morning because the Consumer Price Index for January came in at 3.1%. Overall the Nasdaq,Dow,S&P 500 are all down over 1%. The Russel 2000 is down almost 4%.
