Yes, you are right. But if the overlap is too big, the glue from the Solder Mask will stick on your laminator rollers. After that, you have a problem with your laminator en you have to clean the rollers for a smooth laminating process.

Use this all the time, great results every time. Try soldering a 28 pin SOIC without using it.

Yes, this is a "overhead sheet" I use the "Avery-Zweckform 3562" special for laser printers.

ok, i also noticed that when you placed the overhead sheet that you printed, you cover where you wanted the connections to come out of the solder resist unlike when you print the board you cover what you want to save....if that makes sense :)

Oh thanks for information. Guess I'll have to get my laminator, and a uv lamp ready so I can buy you product. Going to be trying to using CNC soon to make the pcb since I didn't have luck with toner transfer.

You can use the same method for PCB trace etching. It's not only for solder mask

Sure, but even when you make protos, it gives really great results. It requires some experience, but after that, PCB looks so nice that I no longer use etched-tinned PCBs without mask anymore. Main drawback, IMHO, is curing delay that is pretty long.

have you tried applying by dropping the board in a distilled water container then floating the mask on top? pull board up to meet mask while removing from water. use gloved hands to avoid oil contamination. I havent used the film for solder mask but i do use it for etch resist and i use the method i just described to apply it. saves having to hold it awkwardly as you did through the laminator. Also ensures you dont miss the edges :D also are you really selling people something like washing soda premixed to 1% in water for a profit? edit- i see its not even premixed.

Have you had any success using an iron? If so, which setting should be used? Have you tried using the sun as a UV light source? If so, how much exposure time is required on a clear day? I'm very interested in this film, but I don't have anywhere to store a laminator or a UV light box

Starting at 5:17 you placed a clear sheet over the board, is that the same material and method used to etching the board ?

is there a way i could use simpler tools for the masking process? for instance, i do not have a laminator available for my use, so is there snything else i could use, like a clothes iron? and also about the UV lights and the grill, could i use a hot air gun for drying the board? having a different UV light rig, like 2x25W will i have to experiment with exposure times to get desired results, or will the same 45s do it? this product seems awesome, and the finnish is just amazing!

Few questions. How long is the developer good for once you've mixed it up? Can you store it? What sort of area does 1 litre cover? Can you reuse it? Or is it a one time use solution? Thanks! :)

Then you could just use spray paint instead of expensive photosensitive film.

Looks like you use the lamintor just to flatten the mask? Looks like the heating element is off on the side there. I had bought a lamintor that was going try to use toner transfer method with but just not working for me. Maybe I can repupose the lamintor for this. Was there a partcular uv lamp machine? you are using. I've seen some on a site called instructables and they look like they could do the work. I also see on ebay it looks like it was your product I was looking at.

hi rembrandt lights may i ask for the developer chemical step .... that developer able to use pcb after exposure ??? or this developer only can use for solder mask purpose ?? because i would like to buy your item from ebay ..so i want to know that developer issit can use for both purpose

Seems like a lot of bother and not really necessary. I would just tin the board to prevent oxidation. As for close pin spacing solder paste will wick to the metal only surfaces with a hot air gun.

why the solder mask should never overlap? why don't you cut the excess later after laminating

Because if the film overlap or oversized the PCB board, you will likely kill your laminator with the film sticked on the rollers.

I often overlap mask. But I always use a sheet of paper beneath PCB. It helps to exit PCB, and extra mask is glued on it.

Hello, Me again. I think I'm real close to get one of your solder masks kits but I had real trouble finding away to make an exposure tray. I'm getting the mg chemicals exposure kit 416-X for photo-resist and wonder if it work for your solder mask product? I also see you sell those rivets for double sided boards. Do you the expensive tool to press them into place or is there something more economical?

Just a normal standard cheap laminator will do the job.

Hi Molex1701 The laminator is switched is the hottest position. Both heating elements are on. The UV lamp machine I made myself: here are the instructions in Dutch: diyprintplaat .nl/?page_id=21 I use a old HP Scanjet 6300c and a second hand Phillips HB 179 uv light machine.

The thin plastic does not separate easy using a tape, I tried many different tapes, plastic is much more adhered than tape, have to cut it bigger than the pc board and scrap the plastic with a knife until you have where to pull it. Other thing is, the product is not perfect green, it has some small clear spots, also green is not dark like original ink used in silk screen masks. Not so resistant like silk screen mask either. Should be a better product for the price however is much better than the dam green cream made of banana oil the chinese sell that make a lot mess and never dry.

This is intended for prototyping. It does the job very well. You can not get better.
