I bought this jacket (Brown-Moss colour) for my Iceland trip last March 2023! It was very cold between -5 to +5 degC plus high winds. Kept me warm but not overheated - served me well! I now use it for visiting the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales in Autumn and Winter. Please pay attention to the sizing as it comes (generally) one size larger, but remember, you’ll be wearing: base layer, mid-layer then Keela Jacket - phone Keela and view KZfaq videos. I would highly recommended this jacket. Indeed, if it’s good enough for Mountain Rescue guys - that’s the highest recommendation you can get! Price (@ July 2024) £215! Worth every penny!

@@jap9656 if you layer up,ie puffa jacket under neath then true to size if you want tighter fit drop a size👍

If you want it to bead in rain again i was told when bought mines recently you wash it with nikwax tech wash then you coat it with the nikwax txdirect and that gives you back the beading in the rain and also keeps it further protected for longer. I bought the moss one i love it It's a really good jacket with a lovely big hood on it and plenty of useful pockets.

Keela make very nice outdoor kit. My pal has some Keela kit and rates it very highly. I myself have to operate on the more budget end of the scale. I do ok though and I’am not complaining👍🏻

Really great review,,,, Fortunately i have same yours and same colors too for less than 15 years ,,,,I can't compare my Munro with any other two or three times more expensive,,,Amazing product,, I recommend this to everyone who wants to buy a real winter weatherproof jacket,,

made me smile, I have had a long Rohan for about 30 years. It is only just showing signs of its age and now resigned to dog walking only. These items of kit might be expensive but, my goodness, does it pay you to buy them! I have not replaced my Rohan yet, so will certainly look at this one.

👍👍👍 .. nice 😊. Looks like a good buy for long-term use. Useful info for a 'just in case' later 😊. I shouldn't watch posts like this as I have a soft spot for jackets 🙄😏. That said, it looks similar to a 'First Ascent' (South African Name Brand) Jacket that I bought about 15-odd years ago and which now does excellent service here in Switzerland during the Winter. A good post, thanks. Good to know that there is a reasonably-priced replacement out there if ever I need it. Take care ..

Great review Neil. I have been swithering for months for a winter jacket for camping/bushcraft. I have looked very closely at the 'big' brands but found it difficult to justify the >£350 price tags. I've just pressed the go button on a moss green jacket👍 Thank you so much for the detailed review👏

Great film about a great jacket, I’ve got two the first one I got about 2012 and I have another one for when or if, that one dies, it has had a new zip but still goes on. I also got one for my son who loves it.

Very interesting review. I am looking for a new jacket, I stopped using Gore based garments about 10+ years ago. The two jackets I have used. One was Paramo, the other is Zawzi. They have done very well... I'll keep an eye on further information. Take care

Have the Swazi Thar and like gortex only manages a certain amount of of pesperation when active this is on a different level 👍

Loved my Munro until it was stolen. Its not for the lightweight guys as it is quite heavy. It kept me dry in some absolute shocking conditions. Get the balance right between not producing to much condensation and having enough heat inside the jacket to carry moisture to the outside of the jacket and its great. Well it was for me anyway.

I have the exact same jacket as you in the same green/black combo - must have had mine 20 years now. I remember reading all the reviews going and the Keela came out top in most of them - TBH I just thought it couldn't be any good as it was 40% cheaper than the competition, how wrong I was!! Still going strong to this day - my favourite features are the hood and fleece pockets, the hood is the best fitting on any jacket i've owned, and it's quiet too, gore text rustles like hell ! I bought a Mountain Equipment gore tex shell about 5 years ago and it's wrecked now, all of the seams have come unstuck and it leaks like a sieve - given they are £400(ish) I won't be getting another. Shame the Keela is too warm for the 'tween months and summer use when you just want a waterproof shell

excellent timing .. My ' big ' winter jacket has done it's time & i'm looking for a replacement .. and i'd prefer not to pay an extra £100 just for a fancy name

I'm sure they are great jackets but they are HUGELY bulky and heavy. I only wear a hardshell when it's totally needed, otherwise it's in my pack and that woukd fill it on it's own. I have a Mountain Equipment Makalu and that's a fortress but much more compact. Each to their own though, it boils down to personal preference

Because it’s not a breathable outer layer you don’t need it to bead on outside for the material to perform :)

Hi Neil, I have been a viewer for a good few years now and ever since u released the hand fishing reel video, I have always thought how do they both do while u r fishing, just an extra video idea as we all love a good catch and cook and especially when it’s done by a hand reel done by urself 👍🏻

A very good idea. After I made the video I was made aware of the legality of it. Just been trying to find the time to maybe use it in a coastal environment, but then I need to take daylight and tide times into account 🤔

Yesss mate that is very true, well maybe when the time is right then u could do a video just talking about it, the new modifications to suit uk law and how maybe it affects it as I have wanted to do this for a while and just don’t know the logistics of it.

Great review how far does the jacket come down your legs? Does it just come down to your waist or the top of your thighs? I am interested in a heavy duty walking jacket that is durable but like my backside and thighs will be dry as well.

It's very short. For a harness really. I own one and hardly use it because it's short.

Since 2006 I have lived by this phrase : In Norwegian " ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlige klær" Exactly the same or similar to what you quoted. Really enjoyed your video and showing great alternatives for kit that can hold its own with the bigger brands. Coming from South Africa & enjoying Norwegian nature can be a challenge if one is not clothed correctly. Greetings from Norway
