Living in Maine and dealing with snow/ice for 6 months of the year, it's really hard not to laugh at how stupid people are!!! Never mind the comments about just staying home, if you really think this is what you should do when stuck, LEAVE HOME, GO TO DMV, TURN IN YOUR LICENSE !! He breaks every basic rule of driver's ed in 2:45. SMH

Rear Wheel drive is terrible in the snow. First mistake. Second, if you are stuck in a similar situation, ROCK the car back and forth by throwing it in reverse, then in drive, over and over, and by all means do not floor it! Just take it slow, and you can get out.

Some people are so damn lazy. Sit there and do the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Get out, get some sand or whatever, a shovel and put a little effort into it. Reminds me of a neighbor we had when I was a kid. He would always try to get out of his driveway without shoveling and would ALWAYS get hung up on the snow bank at the end of his driveway from the plow. Then he'd get out and shovel... A few times, my father and I went over and helped him but after so many times, we said enough was enough.

The sound of stupidity at it's finest.... I own 2 Mercedes cars, both RWD, never had a problem. Got Blizzaks on both of my cars. A light, steady right foot and some planning makes sure I get where I want to go. I've never really been stuck. Sure, in a RWD car you get wheelspin a lot, but I've never been stuck. So end results: I got to wherever I wanted to go. Car is ok. Engine is ok, transmission is ok, tires are ok, no damage has been done to my car. And I'm proud of that. All temperatures and oil levels and pressures are within regular parameters.

Using his floor mats under the rear tires would get out him of that pretty quick and with less drama, but since the tires can't even move the car at all, he shouldn't try to drive it on the slippery streets.

Low car is always problem in the snow

My idiot neighbor spent a half hour doing exactly this last winter. His driveway was gravel and as flat as can be. Instead of realizing he was stuck, and getting out and putting sand, or cat litter under the tires for traction, he just sat there doing the same thing as this guy in the video is doing.

seeing where the "smoke" is coming from makes it look more like he just hit the snow with his exhaust or something else that heated up and its just steam. because it sure died away pretty fast for it to be a radiator leak. and that would be smoke coming out of the front end too and that doesnt seem to be happening here. either way, he definitely could have gotten out of that with the right rocking motion like someone else mentioned. but it would be best with traction control on so he knows when the tires break and to switch gears.
