The pigeon chicks brings back lots of childhood memories. Our family use to keep chickens for eggs and pigeons for their chicks to supply to restaurant owners on a monthly basis. But at some point, when i was about 10 years old, in the mid sixties, sudden bird flu wiped out all our birds. Somehow sometime later pigeons migrated from somewhere down the track, and the pigeon flock multiplied again. We fed the pigeons with mung beans everyday, similar to what Robert is doing, scattering on the ground while croning and the birds flew down from their pigeon holes to feed. But we never attempted to rear chickens again. It was too painful. Burying and burning(to eradicate the virus) dead birds everyday left a huge scar in us.

Hi Robert. Currently in some parts of Australia we have bird flu which is terrible news for the chicken farmers. Eggs are scarce because of the chickens having to be destroyed. 😢 For 12 eggs 🥚 it is costing $8.00 Australian! So please take care of your birds so they stay healthy. 🐓🕊️ Could I ask that you give your pigs some leaves 🍃 and other green food ☘️🌿🌱please as I love watching the pigs eat ? 🐷❤ Also is your mum ok? Robert, you can preserved the eggs in saline for own use. Takes about 30 days for the yolk to set. The salted egg yolks taste great when use to stir fry vegetables, egg plants and the like. Or taste great hard boiled, to have with Rice..👍👏But i guess they may not be suitable for your pet doggy.
