Greenhouse gardening can be a great way to extend your growing season, but it's hard to know what plants will thrive in a greenhouse.
Many people give up on greenhouse gardening because they think it's too complicated or they don't know what plants will grow well in a greenhouse.
In this video, you'll see all the plants we're growing in our fall 2022 greenhouse garden tour. You'll see what has thrived and what has done poorly, so you can avoid making the same mistakes we did. Plus, you'll get some ideas about what's possible to grow in a big greenhouse.
In this greenhouse tour I'll show you some of the exotic plants or more sub tropical plants that we have, as well as the regular plants that have done really well in our greenhouse. From tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, and strawberries... to bok choi, kale, pomegranates, figs, and everything in between.
We're in Hardiness Zone 6 in Southern Ontario, Canada.

I can't imagine getting fresh strawberries in November. When we build our greenhouse I'm going to have to try planting some in it.

Yes! We just picked 2 today, I need to get more planted so we can harvest a few more at a time ;) I have sone June bearing and Ever bearing and I think the Ever bearing the winners for greenhouses!

@@waykeeperfarmandnerdery We have June bearing that did very well last year, but after we get a larger greenhouse I will have to plant some ever bearing.

What was the lowest temperature (C) during winter outside and What effect was inside (how meny C was in?)

I don't have that data on hand, but it routinely gets to -10C and the inside of the greenhouse has gone to -4C.

help me understand, why not plant all of this outside? extend your grow season? start the plants sooner?

Yes, we can start the plants sooner and extend the growing season by about a month or two on each end. Also, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and other heat loving plants like ginger grow much faster in the greenhouse. We also have some things like fig trees that would likely die back to the ground outdoors, so they get to grow more and produce more figs :)

@@AccessAlly ty for the quick reply. We are homesteading in northern Michigan. I just wondered if our climates are comparable. We currently do a big garden plus lots of berries. We raise meat chickens and rabbits and have egg layers. We are starting to gather info on sheep.. ty for your helpful videos.
