I was wondering where the triffids had ended up... either outside weathering the elements or still in the lap of luxury penthouse with indoor swimming pool. The extender poles is a great idea. I haven't planted tomatoes this year. I use mulberry branches as stakes because they are light when dry, straight and readily available.

After a cleansing in the hot sun, they’ve moved into one of the mini-greenhouses… wind protection, natural bug predators and lots of light and water. They like it better than the penthouse… my kind of planter.

After attending a health solar resort, the Triffids are living it big in a tiny house with controlled natural ventilation. Interesting social gatherings happen regularly where all are welcome. When funds permit, green energy roofing will be installed for all kinds of lighting and plumbing.

Simply moving the pots without breaking the stems is some feat!

How many plants do you have and are they all the same type kind?

The tomatoes are all indeterminate and are three types. These would be cherry/grape types(3 varieties), Roma type paste tomatoes and finally large, beefsteak types(3 varieties). I have found the the cherry tomatoes are by far the most productive, and that the larger varieties do not fill out as they do in-ground. I am not sure whether it is relatively shallow roots, consistent water or light issues. I suspect a combination of all three. I love the Winter and early Spring consistent cherry tomatoes, but as a substitute for major tomato production versus a garden, or perhaps a hydroponic type system it has not measured up. I am growing my tomatoes to process and freeze in-ground in a hothouse and looking to a hydroponic system for over-Winter mostly because of the massive bug issues I have had with the soils in the Greenstalk, and being not willing to introduce major predator species into the house to control my pests naturally.
