Great chainsaw out performed all the gas ones I have owned in the past. Was about to replace it with a new one until I figured out the problem.

I had a huge amount of bar oil coming out of the black motor casing, and I wasn't sure that my chain was being oiled. This video helped me get in to check the hose. I found my hose had detached from the port where it lubes the chain. The trickiest part was getting that spring off, like seen in the video. I learned that the spring screws on and off, once you move the lead part of it at a flat side of the center peg. Don't try to pry the entire thing off.

THANKS MUCH!!! I have a newer model and a number of things had changed, but you gave me the courage to rip into it. There were some "this is never going back together" moments, but I got and it's running like new! *You the man*

great tutorial. Mine was leaking oil and your video helped me with disassembly. I put mine back together and will find out in the next few days if the oil leak if fixed. may have overfilled or the hose may have came off. put oil in and it looks okay right now. Thanks for doing the video. I love this little machine as well. cuts through most jobs on my property, no problem

I never had a saw that didnt drop a small amount of oil when not in use. Always stored them in a litter or dish pan to keep it contained.

Thanks for the video. It's very helpful and informative. I need to add as an observation though that you appear to be setting the chain pretty tight at the end of the video. I am wondering if having the chain overtightened may have caused an early clutch failure? I have the same saw though and I know the saw has a propensity to throw the chain, so I can understand the motivation to keep it a bit tighter than I would a typical chain.

Yes! My Greenworks cuts great until there is the slightest bind and bam! the chain falls off. I spend as much time putting the chain back on as I do cutting. Otherwise, it's a great little tool.

Hello thank you for your video. My chainsaw was misused in last fall to cut hedge so it was jamed by some small twigs and leaves, I had cleaned those before storing it in winter. But I find it cannot start when I take it out yesterday. It is an electrical type. Could you please suggest what the problem would be? Thanks a lot.

I work whit similar systems of transmission before as a repair man so I see the same issue there is 2 problem one is on the small gear on the motor shaft that can be spinning loose on stress the other is to the bushing on the electric motor if the motor body is plastic the bushing will get loose and if is brass if the motor gets hot it will get bad and the motor will loose power broshes to they can be running out and course the cloche were you got the new gear from?

I have a new one, my first, being delivered tomorrow so this is concerning how an electric saw can need repair (after how many hours) scary, and I didn't hear the problem described.

I just bought same saw yesterday..it really does the job I need to with no problems..so my question is - how long did u have been using this saw till you started having this issue ? Thanks

The saw probably paid for itself 10 times over before I had this issue. Greenworks has a great warranty department if you have any issues also. Its a great saw!

I probably dropped $5000 worth of trees before I had this problem. And to be honest my lack of experience made it hard on the saw also.

@@gregorym1126 haha you will be surprise. I ordered one from amazon, used first time for like 10 minutes, not even completed a tiny job and I got into this exact issue. Greenworks sent me a new one under warranty they didnt even want broken one back, so now I doing research to fix broken one.

My lack of experience is hard on my saw also, but I've easily also felled $5000 worth of trees with it over 2 years. I saved even more by notching the battery case so I could use the same battery in both Greenworks and Kobalt (they're identical batteries by same manufacturer, but they use plastic "key" tracks molded into the case, to keep you from using a common battery with both brands). Prior to this I used a plug-in Greenworks, also worked like a champ (now that plug in is only used with a rip chain, to saw boards)

Do you have a place to recommend where I can buy carbon brushes? I have a Greenworks Electric chainsaw, model 20332. The old brushes or what’s left of them measures ~ 9.1mm X 11.8mm X 15.8mm Long. There is a 4” copper braided lead attached to the back. Can't find them anywhere Thanks.

I pulled the part out of another chainsaw i had laying around. Not sure if its available from Greenworks. They have an extremely helpful customer service. I would call and see.

It would be much better if that drive gear is made of steel (like Oregon CS1400).

I think I have this exact issue with my new chainsaw. I took apart and find nothing else bad. I couldn't find any one sell this part, not even ebay. It may be a interchangeable part, I may gamble by ordering one made for other chainsaw.

Is your breathing ok? Your breathing rate is too rapidly. It sounds like you breathe through your mouth also. You may want to get yourself checked out. Great and useful video.

I have that once in a while if a battery doesn't charge properly. Even though the indicator light shows full.

That is shocking all that plastic inside that Greenworks saw there is no way in world I would ever use a battery powered saw due to the fact that replacements parts would be a nightmare to get!!! On top of that you drop that and you have had it. plastic in there looks very cheap quality is just unbelievable to say the least. Greenworks is making alot of money for cheap rubbish!!!! .Take my advice stick to Sthil or Husqarvana and its for a good reason, quality machines if well looked after and maintained they will last a life time. By the way if you going to take it apart instead of putting back all the dirty grease back in the spindle shafts you could have at least cleaned it all out and put clean grease in, just saying!!

The type of "plastic" used is nylon, which withstands a hell of a lot of shearing force, torque, and impact. Quite light too. I no longer need to store fuel and oil in the shed. or spark plugs. It costs seven (7) cents to charge the batteries. Even if I old-chainsaw maintenance at $0 for my time, it's still paid for itself many times over. I'm not nostalgic for mixing fuel or changing plugs.
