Honestly the sailor's hat for me was the funniest part of the whole series. Greg's death stare, John's painful yet stoic defense of the hat. Then the fact it didn't even come last was just champagne Taskmaster from the outset

@@travelwell6049 It was in the ‘remove all the water from the bathtub’ task. During the task, he pulled out the plug and should’ve been disqualified, but Greg just put him last rather than a straight 0.

I don't know but bringing the bath to thw feather might have been a great idea. It doesn't say where the bath is and also not that the bath can't be moved. I would even have considered bringing a chinchila bath with is just a bowl with sand. Perhaps special sand but sand never the less. ;)

It's so sad. There are series where Greg just picks out one contestant and decides that they're bad, extrapolating that they're bad at everything. He then proceeds to score them unfairly low to hammer home the point, making it a sefl-fulfilling prophecy. Some time in the middle of the series, John was actually in third place yet the "John's shit" meme was already/still in full swing. I get that from a comedic perspective it makes sense but from the competitive perspective it sucks. And while some people (Nish springs to mind) thrive on it and make it all funnier in the process, there were times when it seemed that John wasn't built for the abuse.

I enjoy dry humour and honest jabs. It’s not for everyone but if you’re not greeting your friends with “sup wankers”… These are professional comedians who make fun of themselves for a living. There are multiple British tv shows that have comedians on just to make fun of them and with them.. think of it as whose line is it anyway (the points don’t matter) but they’re fun. The point is to have a good time and a good back and forth

In the ball game, you can only touch one ball, while you're behind the line. From then on, it must only be balls hitting each other, and hope a ball hits Bernard at the end. Munya kicked the ball again, half-way down

In a way i think it's a shame that John was in the position of the easy target. Literally anything he said was being taken as "oh here we go". I don't mind a little bit of that but it's at the point of picking the low hangin fruit. He'd be treated that way even when his ideas weren't particularly bad. I dislike someone being singled out so much because they are seen as the obvious target.

I disagree. John reminds me of another easy target, David Baddiel. Only in John's case I think he was earnestly giving his full effort, David didn't seem totally invested in trying to win. John's explanation for the sailor's hat is one of my favorite prize task moments. He had some interesting performances in the tasks, like when he was stymied by the balloons in the tarp challenge and the absolute fiasco of the tail challenge. You couldn't help but root for him, and those failures made his absolute successes, like here, even sweeter.

I sense Greg often chooses a "victim" by his first impression and will judge them during the whole season with the same intent, the continuity builds some comic situation even if it's a bit unfair (On total, John didn't even score that badly) because well the main point of the show is not points but humor. Sometimes it can be too much and makes uncofortable, especially by judging somebody's creation (Hugh Dennis's mobile dance or Katherine Parkinson's mask collection), but I feel he's getting better at not crossing the line.
