Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

The reason the fish jump other than for flies is to see what rapids and shallow parts are up ahead for them to get up the river and spawn. I live really close to a salmon and sea trout river and when people catch them it's just by chance of them going for the lure as it passes past their nose when they are running up the river. You do catch them when they are stuck in pools until the next flood because they are feeding and building their energy up for the next run.❤️💛💚
@socalrcr

Another theory I've often heard is that the salmon jump and flop on their bellies to help loosen up the eggs in preparation for spawning but I don't know how true all that is.

Hey Greg, the reason those salmon are jumping is because they are trying to loosen the eggs before going up to spawn. And salmon do not usually eat top water Flys or bugs. Mostly small fish. That's why the lures work so well. or a cut plug herring also is great. Awesome video's. Keep it up !

@Johnny_Guitar
@Johnny_Guitar Жыл бұрын
@@williambenner701 No! Because of high amounts of pollution and industrial waste, flatfish varieties like sole fish are more likely to contain dangerous contaminants that could wreak havoc on health. Studies analyzing biomarkers of contaminant exposure have found that Flatfish 'Sole' fish in some areas may be exposed to high amounts of polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons, toxic chemicals associated with damage to the DNA and cancer development. So it's highly advisable to never eat any 'bottom feeding' fish of any sort.
