If holes are too big, could you Sew (or staple?) a fine mesh curtain cloth liner bag for the basket? Maybe show a mod like that next time? Also, your first "failure" attachment, just be sure the backer rod is long enough without stretching, maybe just slightly loose. Then use blue painters tape to clamp silicone in place to dry. Glad you're back for DIY, keep up the good work.

I wanted to do something similar in my goldfish pond. I had a rectangular plastic basket- I found that it floats just fine on it's own.

I think the last 2 would be too large for fry use but they would be good to use for other purposes like segregation or sorting plants etc..

Why not just use a styrofoam bowl that they sell in the grocery store 20 oz bowls work great once you put water in they float at surface. Like 20 cents each.
