Gregory Porter (vocals) performs his original composition "On the Way to Harlem" alongside Helio Alves (piano), Terri Lyne Carrington (drums), Linda Oh (bass), Jeremy Pelt (trumpet), Erena Terakubo (alto saxophone) and Mark Whitfield (guitar) as part of the International Jazz Day 2022 All-Star Global Concert on April 30, 2022.
The International Jazz Day 2022 All-Star Global Concert streamed live from the UN General Assembly Hall in New York, featuring dozens of acclaimed artists affirming the importance of jazz as a means of achieving unity and peace through dialogue and diplomacy.
Major support for International Jazz Day is provided by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Air transportation and additional support for artists and educators is provided by United Airlines, the airline partner of International Jazz Day.

This is what jazz needs. Ensembles🔥🔥🔥where we can see legends on stage. First time I saw Terri she was with Patrice Rushen, Holly Hoffman, and Nikki Parrott back in the early 90’s. The way Linda grooves on bass is epic.

It's my favorite tune of Mr. Porter's, as well--but I still prefer the original recording on his album w/a (very) slightly-faster tempo. Check it out--the phrasing on the studio recording is PERFECT!!!
