Almost same system i built. Same motherboard with 13900kf, 2x G.Skill Trident Z5 32GB DDR5 6000MHz, ASUS ROG Strix LC II 360 ARGB, Samsung 990 PRO 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 and a 2tb one. Also a 3080 ti with 1000w psu I did a bit of research what ports to put the NVMe M.2 drives in. I put them in m2_2 and m2_3 ports. The M2_1 port cuts graphics to 8x instead of the max 16x Great video. I need to up my memory timings as mines only running at 2000mhz currently

Yeah, thanks a lot to ASUS for making that incredibly stupid design choice with the PCIe lanes, just to support Gen5 NVMe. I know why they did it, and it's easy enough to just move the drives to the lower slots, but it's still stupid. And a lot of people with this board will never know they've hamstrung their GPU performance by installing their NVMe in what *would* be the correct slot on most other boards.

Top tip, if your building a PC or someone else, during the windows install when it starts asking for you to enter a language, Press ctrl, shift and F3 together, the pc will then reboot into Audit mode. This will land you on the desktop using in the built in admin account without going through setup, you will notice a box that for sysprep just ignore this for now. In Audit mode you can install drivers and software, check the stability of the system using your favourite stress/burnin software, test any UEFI changes you have made and activate windows. Once you are happy with the system, change the setting in sysprep to OOBE and shutdown, Windows will prep the system for Out of box experience and will shutdown, on the next boot will continue with setup like a spanking new prebuilt shop bought and you will look like a pro 😉.

As someone with a 4000d and a 280mm AIO you made the right choice going for the 240. Even if you can get it in the top (Depends on Mobo and Ram) the clearances are so tight that it just doesn't look clean. I was forced to put mine in the front with tubes up (top of rad well above block though). Tubes down, even with the extra basement piece taken off the tubes didn't have space at the bottom.
@JimmyCrackorn

For anyone who uses internal WiFi antennae in their builds, where do you tend to stick them to avoid blocking signal with the metal of the case, and also to minimize the visibility of hanging wires? Finally, what's your preferred adhesion method and substance? Mine really performs, and I'd like to keep it that way, but the wires are really starting to bother me. I just don't know where I should put them so that they're out of the way, won't lose their functionality or performance, are safe, and won't require that I perform surgery on the machine to open it up for cleaning and / or parts swaps / upgrades.

Nice build. I may have missed the result, but you said you would consult the manual for the MB about M.2 installation. I think if you populate the top M.2 slot it cuts the graphics card slot to X8 from X16. I don't know what that does to graphics card performance. Something to consider. There is another M.2 slot that has direct lanes to the CPU. LOL, that is a lot of card for that case.
@TOM452

@that_ninja_jun
@that_ninja_jun Жыл бұрын
YUP! Ran into this problem myself. that top M.2 shares PCIE 5.0 with the GPU slot. I opted to toss my M.2 into the lower left slot, since that has direct lanes to the CPU, which still gets me my PCIE 4.0 speeds of 7000mb/s+ I didn't personally test the GPU at x8 VS x16, but i assume you lose quite a bit of performance. Figured it didn't matter if the M.2 was tossed in the PCIE4.0 slot, since it's rated for 4.0 speeds anyway, plus I wouldn't risk gimping the 3090 I was tossing in.

Can 100% confirm both your statements. Just went through the tedious struggle of moving my nvme from the top PCIE 5.0 slot to the one right below. Went from x8 to x16 right away. READ THOSE MANUALS AND DO YOUR RESEARCH!!

Excellent video and well produced. Installing the two MB power cables before mounting the MB made it more manageable when I installed them. Given the size of the MB, same as yours, and my top-mounted 360 radiator in my Thermaltake C3 Commander case, there needs to be more room at the top left on the case. When I installed my RTX 4090, I placed the case on its side. This made the installation much more accessible. My future mods will include a larger ATX tower case and the yet-to-be-released 4TB SSDs I have pre-ordered. My feeling is to go big or go home. I'll be ready for future games, which I know game designers have on their drawing boards.

A very nice build once again! Something that caught my eye; I saw you removed the top part of the CPU block on the AIO.. I have the 360mm version of that AIO, and I accidentally scraped my ring on the brushed aluminium part of it, and left quite a mark on it. I contacted be quiet! to see if I could get a replacement.. they told me that it wasn't removeable and so it couldn't be done. :( Merry Christmas, Greg.

@@GregSalazar I've had another look at this.. I have the Pure Loop 2 FX. That LED block does come loose like the one in your video, however, it cannot be fully removed as the LED's aren't fixed to the block, they are fixed to the cover, with a wire soldered on. That's probably the reason why Be Quiet said it couldn't be done. :(

Nice build Greg. For me I would have stepped up to the 5000D for a bit more wiggle room component wise, and remove the HD cages, it's much easier to manage the psu cables without the cages in the way, not like the cages are hard to remove or reinstall. I would also add 1 more front fan and the rear exhaust fan, that 4080 and 12900k are going to generate a lot of heat under load, the bottom intake will also provide the 4080 some extra cool air helping it's thermals even with that beefy cooler. I have a Ryzen 7950x, ROG Strix x670E-A and 3080TI in the 7000D and with a rear exhaust I feel warm air coming out the back so a rear exhaust will help quite a bit in that more compact 4000D. Personally, I like to put the hoses on my AIO at the front of the case when I run it top mounted gives slightly more room to work with, however in this case it looks like it would have similar space no matter where the hoses are coming from. Other than that it's a nice build, and that GPU is huge in that case!
