When you do get into LV machines definitely invest in a 16 amp energy converter, seeing as it converts FE to EU so you dont really need to do the turbines/combustion gens

Interfaces with robot arms/conveyors are the way to go once you get access to them, they are faster and can limit input/stock in machines Also use drawers as buffers for passive processes to easily regulate the buffer with downgrades/upgrades and keeping your me system a little cleaner. One Example is use a robot arm on keep exact mode with 64 Copper and 64 Redstone to insert from an Interface below into an LV Alloy Smelter, which auto outputs to a drawer above with no storage upgrades/downgrades. If you connect the drawer to your me system directly or through a drawer controller (to make it more expandable), you passively make 2048 (+64 in the machine itself) red alloy and you can adjust the buffer at any time. This eliminates the time to wait when requesting machines, and you generally want to passive 80% of materials like that. Especially if they have long crafting times, like EBF recipes which you want to passive every single one you need. (I dont want to see you autocrafting processes into ebfs) But generally speaking you just want to eliminate waiting time as much as possible, because who wants to wait on autocrafting all day

Chosen, your idea of using the ME Interface as a way to dish out exact amounts was clever, but unfortunately interfaces don't export items. One way you could solve your problem is by using the GregTech Robot Arm cover with a filter to both enable item I/O for the machine and to make sure the machine only keeps certain amounts in stock. Pretty good greg episode otherwise.
@astralfields
@astralfields 6 ай бұрын
Yep, that is the way to go. In the meantime, a simpler method that wouldn't require any new recipes is to use a Modular Router with a Regulator Upgrade on a Pusher Module that always keeps 16 sulfur inside the machine. But eventually you're going to want robot arms and all the other covers anyway so why not just add the recipes immediately?

You face a AE storage bus to a RS interface to allow AE to access the RS items, so you don't have to export items to a separate ME system

ME interfaces had never automatically export, it's just an inventory, but you can pull or pull from them. Anyway that won't solve the specific amount problem, since it onyl regulates its own inventory, not the puller one. Greg tech has machine "side upgrades" that will allow you to push or pull items, i dont remember the name but i used it a lot in the "Omnifactory" mod pack (a little old, but works the same way) you should check for it :)

Currently doing my first time through greg and currently at EV. Here some things I learned: Always keep machines running. They are slow and it is better to run for backlog than to wait for ages. There are covers to turn of machines (machine controller), so combined with level emitter, that allows to keep stuff stocked. That is especially true for the induction furnace. Made the mistake to craft in him on demand, causing massive wait times... LaserIO is quit nice with a counting filter to supply the right amount to machines. I prefer settingup interfaces to supply the laser net and let laser IO handle machines. As already mentioned, there are covers, pumps and more for direct use on the machines. Only issue is, the can only handle fluids or items, what is quit limiting in many cases. Thats why LaserIO. But didn't realise that I can use all the stuff on the machines. From performance perspective, stop using tools in autocrafting as soon as possible. The calculations for durability take up extra time. On the other hand, autocrafting is way faster. Finding the right point between backlog crafting and autocrafting is key here. The pipes from greg look nice, but have limitations. For example, acids may destroy them. Meka pipes work well here. You can transition away from steam ver, fast with the converter. I liked to deal with steam to MV age, to challenge myself a bit. The large boiler produces insane amounts of steam for early to midgame so you can easily power a lot of turbines with it. But at some point, they fall of a d the following boiler dont scale that good, that's why I stopped using them at some point. I hope, these tips helped. Similar stuff is written in the quests, following them is quit helpful, but looking to the sides is quit fun. You may just end up in a rabbit hole XD

The AE2 Interface just acts like storage. So if the later machines can pull and push Items, you can use an interface and pull out of the interface while also using it to send item back into the system.
@BlackSand87

at 22:20 this is only for steam machines. unless it is not yet implemented in modern GT, you can set an output side by using a wrench on the machine and in the GUI, toggle what to output. You may also put covers onto some sides for stuff like filtering or additional logistical options, this way, its actually really flexible

Refined Storage costs 8k/t for the Dimension Card because of how easy it is to use. If you’re going to spend the time and energy in planning out your AE Network, especially huge complicated ones, then it’s only fair to have some different perks.

So you have the right idea of using an interface to supply items around but rather than use an interface I recommend instead using some kind of pipe that can round robbin the items around and filter the inputs and outputs, also subnets like you said are not a bad idea as they allow you to keep items where they should stay but still access them it's a nice way to compartmentalize your machines. I also prefer switching over to AE2 entirely since it has all features that I can think off from RS with addons including your beloved storage disks.

Pretty sure you can create a mini-network to solve the export issue. Have the flat interface connected to a full interface block. They don't share network that way. Give power and don't link the networks by using the plain glass cable. Mini network can pull from the full block interface with its own exporter and the flat interface will make sure the full sized interface is full of whatever material you need to pull.

so in 17:45 you said you are gonna do a machine per part required... dont do that and most people who played gt will agree, theres a LOT of things that 1 machine per part is gonna be not great for performance and space usage, what you could do is parallelize the crafting of wires, plates, rods, etc with multiples of the same machine but on demanding it because of the sheer volumes of items. On the other hand one thing most people like to do is to passive the ingots and alloys that you would use in approximately 34 minutes after finishing the steam age, thats actually helpful because they do take like 3 billion years to craft. Same can be said about circuits but even worst because each voltage tier (LV-MV-HV-EV-IV-LuV-ZPM-UV, UHV theres only 1) have like 3 types of each one being the next one always cheaper but using more exotic materials so you shouldnt raelly passive them (maybe like the best of each tier but thats for way later) ah luckily that base is modular you will need like x30 of that space The only thing that i 100% recommend to always have in stock and passive are the diff chemicals, like the diff types of rubbers and polymers, and a lot more that you will encounter later one. Another thing, GT machines are slow as hell early on but at around IV they start to speed up with the unlock of multiblocks that makes them better with parallel up to 256

unless you gonna put machines in the hallways, you gonna have to expand your base a lot for the whole of gregtech, even if u do put machines in the hallways, it may not be enough for the bigger multiblocks, the most common ones are gonna be 3x3x4s, 3 blocks wide and 3 blocks high, and 4 blocks tall, you can also put input and output hatches anywhere in the multiblocks, atleast where you usually place the machine casing blocks
