Gerwig is exactly what a director should be: she respects and likes her actors, and allows their ideas to be incorporated. A true collaborator.

@@b-dub6865if you ever watch one of the Hollywood reporter directors‘ roundtables you’ll see that no, not all directors are like that. Most of them are very quiet and calm and composed. This is uniquely Greta and very much an adhd trait, like you said. I appreciate that she adds some smiley and bubbly energy to those conversations 😄

I will be *_ETERNALLY_* upset if we never, ever get to see this footage of Ryan Gosling in a romantically-charged dance battle with his own mink fur coat, _losing_ , and being REBORN from it. This sounds like peak Gosling, and we're all supposed to be OKAY with being deprived of that?

It was at the recent Santa Barbara International Film Festival that Ryan Gosling received the Kirk Douglas Award. At the presentation Steve Carell and Greta Gerwig both gave great speeches praising Ryan as an actor and person. Steve talked about how much he "hates" Ryan for being so good. Greta gave a particularly lovely speech about Ryan's commitment to bringing to life the incredible and crazy Ken that she imagined. The event is on KZfaq, so be sure to check it out.

Omg, how many of Ryan's scenes were cut from the movie? The dance with faux mink coat must have been the best part in the film 😭 Ryan Gosling simply killed all of his scenes... no actor could have done what he did. The Barbie movie could have been a failure without Ryan, that's why Greta was so insistent that he accept the role. I hope The Academy gives him his deserved Oscar 👏

I mean he was fantastic in the role, but I'm sure there must have been backups. Chris Pine also would have made an A Plus Ken. A hilariously blonde Ryan Reynolds, a cleanshaven Tom Hardy, or Chris Hemsworth would have very happily and easily slipped into that role, as well. OOOOh, maybe Chris Evans, I feel like he might have brought something really interesting to the role, he is secretly extremely funny, he can play a dickbag character really well, but no one is better at quietly expressing vulnerability he really really doesn't want you to see.

Barbie was so overrated, I mean it really was bad in almost every way. I think it is an example of great marketing though. The script was boring as heck. I don't think I laughed once, and the story was lame, and there was no real lesson to it in the end either ... I mean, what was the climax, she got to go to a gynecologist ...
