Seeing Greta inspired me to make a golgari food deck, I eventually decided to make Gyome my commander though because of the continuous food generation

I built this deck two days ago 9-5-23 and that was before a $26 30 card upgrade just last night. Bolas citadel is sick in this. Night of the Sweets' revenge. Turn all your food creature and tokens into mana dorks ?? HELL YEAAHH I'm obsessed with this one

Have you tried using the partner Sam and Frodo for this? I instantly slotted confectionary in. Being able to get a food every combat is crazy good for food strats.

jaheira friend of the forest alongside agent of the iron throne is also a really good combo if you want to go golgari food. tapping food for mana and then using that tapped food to cast things that sac the food is a fun way to play

If I am reading this right... Chatterfang would not make a squirrel for the additional food. You would just make a rat, a food, and a squirrel for every rat you create? I'll have to grab this combo for my Chatterfang deck anyway though since I was already putting in Greta! (Just last night I had a situation where I had 5 food that I wasn't using, and having a way to use them just sounded good on it's own.)

I believe the replacement effects stack (like Academy Manufactor when you have more than one of them) So you make a token, get an additional Food. Then you make a Squirrel for each of them. Or, you make a token and get a squirrel. Then you get a Food for each of them. Could be wrong though.

@brandyourfan9244 "If you would create" - but Chatterfang itself doesn't create tokens. The squirrels aren't doubled from Primal Vigor/Parallel Lives/Doubling Season because they're not created. You get double the tokens you create, and then 1 squirrel for each (not 2). Took has the same wording as Chatterfang. Manufacturer creates the extra tokens so they stack.

@@Fierlyt I see what you mean, but Doubling Season should still work... Chatterfang has the words "are created instead" which implies that the tokens are created. Since the tokens are created, I don't see why the interaction wouldn't work

@@Fierlythow are the tokens not created? Do they just appear on the battlefield? The final line of text for that portion of Chatterfang literally says that they ARE created

Sac three foods to Pippin, create three rates and three foods with Pippin and Confectioner, repeat

Would Merry and Pippin just be better, given access to silence and better interaction

Pippin, Took, confectionery activate Pippin still gives 3 food. Even if you don't want to play merry it still feels smoother on your mana,since you are paying the 3 mana you would for Greta over 2 turns.
