Really comprehensive demo. Gretsch has been killin’ it with all of these budget-conscious guitars. This one is so much cooler than a Les Paul, which everyone’s got. Almost bought one of these in the same vintage white color, but decided on the 2655t P90.

Hi Damon, great playing as always. I fell in love with this exact model and I'll be buying it most likely next week. I have a couple of questions though, if you don't mind consulting me: - Since it's kind of difficult to tell through videos and pictures, how's the fretboard color and its overall look? Laurel fretboards usually tend to look real pale and dry, which gives the vibe of a cheap guitar and I really don't like it. I've seen some exceptions and it looks like yours looks pretty good and dark. Have you treated it with lemon oil or anything else? I guess the color of the guitar being vintage white makes it less noticeable? God, I whish this model had a rosewood fretboard like some other Electromatics.. - How are the frets edges? Were they smooth and well rounded out of the box? - How's the factory action and overall setup? Did you have to mess around with truss rod / bridge height at all? Thanks in advance!

*Also how's the tuning stability? Is the nut cut properly and are machine heads okay?

Hi there. The fretboard is pretty good in mine, quite dark and nicely figured. When I change the strings ( Bigsby got to be 11’s) I’ll pop some Monty’s guitars relic wax on the fretboard to moisten and darken it. Fret finishing is good also. Just ordered p90 sized filtertron and Dynasonic , so I’ll do a video after installingvthem

I have found your demo videos quite informative. I purchased two Gretsch Streamliners, G2655 and G2655-P90, in part from the information you shared. Being that you seem to be well versed in the world of Gretsch, what would you say about the tonal differences, if any, between the G5220 Electromatic Single Cut and the G5222 Electromatic double cut-both with the same Blacktop Broadtron pickups? Is it fair to say that it might be similar to the differences between a Les Paul and an SG? I have searched and searched and not finding any good side by side demos of both under the same controlled like for like environment. There are plenty of them separately or against other brands or models but not of each other that I can find.

That's a fair enough comparison. I think the 22 is a little thinner sounding as it has less body wood, so less sustain, and a tad more jangly as well.
