Reviewing the Gretsch Electromatic Jet, a guitar in production for 65 years! This one has the B-50 Bigsby tremolo system, two Blacktop Filter’Tron pickups and one bad ass look!!

I've got one. Those pickups are awesome. I bought a Vox 10 watt tube amp. The combination produces great tones for Jazz, Old School Metal. Country, blues, RnB, Spaghetti Western, Surf, Punk, Classic Rock and Rockabilly. No pedals and it sounds amazing.

Sweet review. Glad to see another player spreading Gretsch love. Been an Epi Les Paul player for years but after playing a Gretsch 5220 I've been sold. Still love the Les's but man does that 5220 bring some stellar tone to the table and it's one gorgeous girl too.

I can't believe that more people don't play Gretsch's. Their variability in sound alone is more than enough reason to give it a try. I used some Lizard Spit on the nut and have never had a tuning issue, ever.

Aww yeah Word Up smytree!! Thank you so much for checking out the vid, and it really is a stunning axe in person! But I get ya, it isn't really a Metal guitar, ... even tho I did hammer out some Postmortem at the end of that vid, haha!!! (Well, it has to be black, amirite?!?!?) It is a crazy tone monster, and I'm able to get all sorts of sound out of it, and playing acoustically when just noodling around is a real joy. But, as it goes, I'm looking for more metal axes as we speak, and I'm trying to talk myself out of a road trip to the closest Guitar Center (90 miles away) to check on a C-1. Was looking at the G522 in natural for a Malcolm Young style......which is cheaper....is it worth paying more??????
@tinkerbell4896
@tinkerbell4896 2 ай бұрын
Word up Gers3904! I do not have any experience with the G522, but I'll say this. The 5000 series Gretch guitars are really amazing guitars at their price, and we're talking about a $500-$600 guitar. I love that Jet guitar and play it a lot, even though I have a good many other more expensive ones. I totally understand that a couple hundred bucks can be and mean a lot more to one person compared to another, but I would totally get another 5000 series Gretch again. I've actually been looking at the Duo Jet model. So, even though I haven't played that other model, I bet you'd be really happy with a 5000. Totally just an opinion. I hope that helps! Good luck with your decision, and Rock On!! 🧚🏻‍♂🤘🏼

Thank you for reviewing this guitar ! Do you recommand upgrading pickup even if they already sound good ? Do you recommand to replace the potentiometers to higher impedance value ?
@tinkerbell4896
@tinkerbell4896 Жыл бұрын
Word up David!! Thanks so much for checking out the review, and for leaving a wonderful comment! My opinion on replacing or upgrading anything on a guitar is that I wouldn't do anything unless it's something that needs addressed.The pickups on this guitar sound great to me, so I'm good with them for sure. Any of the pots could come down to player preference, but they're good enough for my level of playing. If i was forced to change anything out of this axe, it might be the tuners, I believe they could be a little better. I hope that helps! Rock On Brother!!! 🧚🏻‍♂🤘🏻

Word up! Yeah, that's a fantastic idea, I'm gonna look into that, and maybe some new tuners too. After feathering the nut just a kiss with a fine file, and added string lube, my tuning greatly improved. But i think it can be better, and that bar you mention is another good spot to improve. One question how are the pots? I heard someone say they need to be swapped out because they are like on / off switches. Maybe he just got a bad one?
@tinkerbell4896
@tinkerbell4896 2 жыл бұрын
Word up! I went and plugged in to make sure I gave a good answer. All the pots, volume and tone, seem to modulate quite nicely on mine. I remember opening up the back, and they were not the cheap-o dime sized ones either. They all did a nice sweep, and were at full right near the end of the turn, and were quiet right near the end the other way. The master volume worked great also just the same, and all were equal on all pickups. So, not sure what happened to the other guy's axe, all good here! And thanks again, you absolutely are awesome!! Rock On!!

@tinkerbell4896 2 жыл бұрын
Word up Alex!! I hope it works better for you on the next time you're tuning, I'm guessing you are talking about trying to get the Gretsch a little more stable in holding tune. It still seems to wander on me, more than other guitars I have, so I'll need to rweek mine some more too, when I've some time to throw it on the bench. It's definitely way better than it was after I did open up the nut a wee bit, as well as give it a little lubrication. Good luck, and Rock On!!! 🧚🏻‍♂🤘🏻

Word Up! I had some issues with mine, as you might have already seen in the comments on this vid. I was able to get mine to behave a whole lot better with some easy work. The one I had was binding in the nut a little bit, so I took some very fine files, and just opened up the string slots a wee bit. Also, I added some string lubricant to the strings at the nut and bridge areas... pencil graphite would also work well for this. Give this a whirl, and see if the tuning stability comes around for you. There are tons of vids showing how to do this exact fix, and you won't need to buy any tools if you've some basic things around. I hope this helps!!, And I appreciate you checkin' out the vid, and leaving a comment! Sending you some good vibes, and Rock On!! 🧚🤘🏻
