It’s crazy to think some people still think this abuse. If the dogs didn’t want to run/chase the lure, they wouldn’t. They aren’t being forced to do anything. They are simply doing what they love to do. Hunting. All purebred dogs were bred for a purpose, and it’s important to work them for those purposes because that’s what they long to do. They love it. What is abuse is keeping fifi in an apartment complex with no training, no exercise, over feeding her, letting her become obese, and never grooming her.........that’s abuse. Not this.

The greyhound we adopted can’t sit cuz they trained it to much and when it got hurt was about to be put down, there is no one who cares about these dogs

@@nils8876 racing grey hounds, and other working dogs are cared for better than most pet dogs are. They get the appropriate daily exercise and are fed healthy diets. Your grey hound cannot sit because grey hounds CANT sit because that’s just they’re breed. They can do a squat, but because of they’re body structure they cannot sit like normal dogs. The rescue you got your greyhound from more than likely told you a sob story about the dog to raise your interest in adopting it, as most rescues will do that to get rid of dogs faster to make space for more. But yes, greyhound dogs cannot sit like a normal dog. But that has nothing to do with how much they’re worked.

To all the people that think greyhounds are savage , I recently gave one of my greyhounds to an adoption program and the family who took her adore her , and she lives with a small dog and 2;cats , and just lays on the lounge snoozing

@Kody_to_sturdy greyhounds can't run 85 mph. They can only reach speeds up to 45 mph. They are the fastest dogs in the world.

@@nanditho The Greyhound is the fastest of all and can reach a speed of 40 - 45 miles per hour, whereas the Whippets are a little bit slower. By comparison, the Whippets reaching speed is of 35 miles per hour. Not bad, eh? But do take note that Greyhounds might be the fastest breed in the world, Whippets are not far behind.

It's not the racing that is considered cruel it is the way these dogs are kept at the race track. It's very sad if you think about it, they get used for money and then when they get too old the owners get rid of them bc their not making a profit.

@@lol-ik8gc You realize you can train an animal to do something regardless if they like it or not right?… Such as training a horse to take a bit in there mouth even though it stratches there gums and hurts.. Or even training a dog to walk on two legs for long periods at a time. If you agree training dogs to walk on there hind legs is cute and not abuse then you seriously don’t know anything..

When the tracks in Fl started closing, the greyhounds were moved to other tracks in other states that still have racing, or they were retired and went home with their owners or they went to the adoption groups throughout the country and got adopted. People can handle them just fine. They make excellent family pets. They are wonderful, sweet, loving, comical dogs. Don't post comments when you don't know anything about them.

why do you race horses? they were bred to run the same as horses. There’s nothing wrong with this unless you are abusing them, my dogs race and love to run and have fun and are very well cared for.
