During the last day of Caribbean Cup Freediving Competition and second day of our setup in Roatan we had the pleasure to capture a magnificent 114m deep FIM dive of William Trubridge. Check out the underwater rocky scenery below 70m! It is breathtaking!

I can only hold my breath for 1 min and that’s sitting still I can’t imagine holding it for as long as him plus swimming. My hat is off to this guy! What an amazing accomplishment! I really don’t know how the hell he did it. I guess mind over matter. Truly unbelievable

It's impressive. Although I know that some divers can hold their breath for up to 20 mins, I wonder what his record is. It's amazing he did this gracefully in just 4 mins. Must be a piece of cake for him.

It may not be the direct culprit. Majority of the gamers did not end up killing people. But it was the main reason why he committed the murder. The judge was right. If you get depraved from dopamine hit, and you already have propensity for violence, gaming can definitely influence you directly into acting out that desire to kill someone.

Only 20min+ on pure oxygen for 30 minutes prior. The record is far less for static apnea on normal air, and that doesn't even take into account depth/pressure/using your muscles/equalizing.

Hard to stay clear when you are oxygene deprived. When resurfacing the risk of blacking out is very high so they have to get air in quickly.

Samba itself is not a reason to not give a white card. If the freediver manages to "breath it out", does not black out, submerge head in water or need assistance, and is able to perform the surface protocol in time, then all is clean

Freedivers never blackout at the bottom, only within a few meters of the surface better yet Most of the time they blackout after they surface the water.

@roypatterson9910 5 жыл бұрын
@@aerwyna9710 That's not 100% guaranteed, you never know what can happen when you are doing such an extreme sport, and if you watched the video, then you would have seen that the one guy blacks out at around 30 m, which 98'-5.102in., and that's a good ways dowm, which I've been under a 100 foot of water, so I know how deep is.

It's unsafe for scuba divers to be sitting at anywhere near that depth. It would require a huge amount of logistics given they would have to be on mixed gasses and would require enormous decompression times.

The divers aren’t expected to black out anywhere near the bottom. They shouldn’t have announced that depth if they did. Also, as you can see, a lot of the safety divers only have snorkels as a breathing apparatus. If they had gone down with him then it would be more impressive than the one attempting the dive. If they were scuba divers, a lot would have to be planned and there is a risk of nitrogen narcosis that comes along with it.

i think people don't understand the risk of this sport. from a first person's pov. you can be diving down or coming up and at any second it'll be just waking up and wondering what happened or scarier not waking up at all. you do not know when it's coming it just happens
@evanwoods4774
@evanwoods4774 5 жыл бұрын
You do know when it’s coming. Your vision becomes blurry, you start contracting and your mouth opens involuntarily to get air into your lungs. Finally after 10-20 secs of this, you black out.
@djdavidphillips
@djdavidphillips 4 жыл бұрын
These guys have performed hundreds of dives at these depths, they probably know how many pulls down and how many pulls up to within one or two pulls. The body is a very exact machine sometimes and the chances of a problem deeper than the 30m where the first safety diver is present on the way back is small. There is an element of risk, but so is motorcycle racing etc etc. A LOT of thought, preparation, knowledge and experience goes into freediving. You cannot even get to anywhere near this deep without some years of practice and a wealth of knowledge.

rob dog that‘s another disciplin called no Limit. More dangerous and there for not so popular nowadays. This is called free immersion. Together with constant weight and constant weight the Most common ones in competitions today. And mm Personal favorit 😊

I just searched that FIM or Free immersion is an AIDA International freediving discipline in which the freediver dives under water without the use of propulsion equipment, but only by pulling on the rope during descent and ascent. Performances may be done head first or feet first during the descent, or a combination of the two.
@danielschechter8130
@danielschechter8130 4 жыл бұрын
There are several different disciplines in freediving. You're thinking of No Limits, in which the diver rides a weighted sled down, and a float back up. This is still done, and divers in No Limits go deeper than in the other disciplines, in part because they are relaxed, not actively swimming or pulling themselves along the rope. Other disciplines are Constant Ballast, where the diver swims down and up, using the rope only as a guide, and can pull once at the turn-around at the bottom; Constant No Fins, same but without fins; and Variable Ballast, where a weight pulls the diver down but the diver must swim back up. (I've never seen anyone doing this.) Last I heard, William still held the record in Constant No Fins. Watching him do No Fins diving is like watching ballet.

Rob Dog, are you familiar with Yuri Lipski? He descended at a depth of 115 (At the Blue hole) meters underwater and fell into an uncontrolled descent on the sea floor, which he was subjected to nitrogen narcosis in which he died.
@freeflynz1983
@freeflynz1983 5 жыл бұрын
Nitrogen narcosis is caused by breathing compressed nitrogen at over 30m (approx). As this diver is not breathing any compressed air, only holding a lung full taken at the surface, it does not affect him.
